If this were a Christian church, they would be preaching the doctrine from the Bible about how one goes to heaven or hell, and not opining on matters that may have transpired between man and God they have no insight into. They could condemn the man’s known acts but not the man — insufficient information is available at present for the latter.
These kooks presume to be Old Testament style prophets, but ones that can peg a person’s eternal destiny (except in a few cases to confirm that it was heaven) would be foreign to Old Testament doctrines.

I think I have the answer.
It would interrupt his power and tarnish his image.

Administrators of rural cemeteries go to great lengths to protect the protesters from Westboro.
The administrators work with local law enforcement to establish a safe area (roped off ) where LEOs stand on guard to protect the protesters. The roped off area just happens to be out of sight and out of hearing of the family of the deceased.
According to what I have been told it works. They rarely if ever show up if they can't be seen or heard.
People in rural areas do have their ways of handling things like Westboro.
