GREENVILLE, S.C. After Texas Gov. Rick Perry bowed out of the presidential race last week, his senior campaign leaders in South Carolina set to work closing down the three campaign offices, collecting yard signs and dismantling staff. But their most important assignment from Perry, said state campaign chairman Katon Dawson, was to go to work immediately to help former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in his battle to upset former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the states critical first-in-the South primary.

My first reaction?
Perry CARES about this country!
Perry is a good guy.
If not that another significant position in the administration.
Rick S would be good as AG.
I always thought Rick Perry was a decent man, with scruples.
He was just bad at debating.
Amen to that!! Instead of licking his wounds at having to give up he went to work for someone who could possibly win. Says a lot for his character in my opinion.
I believe Rick Perry concurs with virtually every other other former opponent of Romney, except Mclame, that Romney is a dirty tricks specialist and an empty suit to boot who can buy his way into races. Rick doesn’t dig that style and also I thought I saw admiration in his eyes for Newt in the most recent collection of debates.
I am very proud of Perry and his campaign to do that.
Your reaction mirrors my own. An honorable man.
This election is bigger than any one candidate. To step down and announce his support as he did demonstrated grace and committment to country.

All class by Perry this past week. As Newt said in his victory speech, this is bigger than one man. Perry obviously knows that too.
They fight. They have class. They love America as founded. Works for me, warts and all.
I agree. I firmly believe that he is a man of good character...promoting country instead of promoting self.
I agree. He didn’t let his ego come before his country.
Or head of Homeland Security.
Perry’s a good man.
Governor Perry is a big, big man. And God is not done with him.
“Possible running mate?”
I think is simple integrity. Something we haven’t seen in so long it is hard to recognize. This speaks well of Perry and of his supporters.
I can only hope Rick - When he decides is that time - will support Newt as well... Otherwise I would really be disappointed
Absolutely!
And what the hell are Bachmann and Huntsman doing? Nothing.
Perry could not beat Obama's war chest and the MSM, but he's a good, decent man... he's steady. Perry verbally endorsing Gingrich, and physically proving it, should prompt Gingrich to put him on his staff in a senior position.
Based on the following, I think Gingrich respects and would do right by Palin as well:

Well said, and right on the money.
