Kerry was ahead of Bush in the polls all year in 2004, at least up until July, when one poll had him 7 points ahead. Not everyone can be so ignorant to think that what’s in the polls now is set in stone for the rest of the year, especially when South Carolina just swung 30 points to Newt in less than 2 weeks.

This is absolutely not about electability. As Jonah Goldberg brilliantly wrote weeks ago, the GOP establishment is afraid Newt will WIN, not that he will lose, as written in the article linked below. Frankly, I don’t fully understand why. But I know the electability argument for Romney is bogus, because experienced politicians are not so ignorant as to think polls are set in stone this early in an election.

I don’t believe Rush is with the elite. He’s too rich and too powerful in his own right to care about what the elite think about anything. If anything the elites are inferior to him. If his views align with theirs it is purely coincidental.

Newt’s plan, the 21st Century Contract with America, is on Newt.org. The WSJ said his tax plan was bold while Romney’s was timid.

Supposedly Michael Savage said on his show that a member of the media spoke to him and quoted Romney as saying that he “hates conservatives.”

The best quality of Romney for us is that he’s not a very good liar. His contempt for the likes of Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich is barely concealed.

When this thing started, Newt was probably about my fourth choice, after Palin, Cain and Perry

My sentiments as well. The above three names and Bachman were true conservatives that the GOP establishment did not want to help. The GOP Establishment would rather keep their moderate power base and not make waves. The GOP Establishment could care less if Obama wins re-election. In fact the GOP Establishment wants Obama to really screw up the country 2012-2016 so that in 2017 a GOP Dogcatcher could take office.

It’s not so much about Rush giving anything away, or about Mitt being able to execute the plan. It’s why is Rush giving Mitt the best possible advice to begin with? It comes back to this: if the Establishment is the problem, why do *anything* to encourage the Establishment candidate?

KG, I felt that way for a long time. One thing I only learned recently is that, if the latest Arbitron numbers are to be believed, Rush’s audience has fallen off steeply. I wonder if it has anything to do w people thinking this election is too important *not* to take a stand against Establishment types, such as Romney?

Newt’s plan, the 21st Century Contract with America, is on Newt.org.

I think he's gotta start selling it like Cain did with "9-9-9". And by that I mean out of his mouth, not gathering dust on the website.

-——He does not support one candidate over the other——

You are correct in that he must appear neutral during primary season.

However, back in the olddays, before Free Republic, there was a revolution and the Republicans ended 40 years of Democrat rule. Newt was at the forefront. There was a new crop of piss and vinegar Republicans with Newt as their leader.

Rush was their mascot. Rush was invited to give the keynote welcoming address to the freshmen. His ties to Newt are old and deep

I have no doubt that Newt is the one he favors most

[The solution is simple. The Republican establishment just has to switch places with the Tea Party. Let the leaders of the Tea Party take over the reins of the Republican establishment. Then we will see very positive results for all of us and, better still, for the entire country!

Surely the Republican establishment will better see what is going on if they have to rebuild their base. For now, they should resign in disgrace and let the genuine leaders of the people take over. The Republican establishment knows that they are not leading, so they should get out of the way!]

The establishment is not just going to bow down and get out of the way. However, the base can take over. Conservatives and Tea Party types can pay $10.00 to get on the ballot to run as precinct chairman. Once elected they get to vote for the leadership of the party.

Last election, 50% of the precinct chairs didn't even have anyone sign up. If the base really wants a seat at the table, this is what you have to do in every single county precinct in the country.

Several websites and news broadcasts here in FLA are portraying Rush as being anti-Newt and pro-Willard. What’s up with this?

You, the websites and news programs in FL, or anywhere else need to stop speculating that Rush is endorsing Romney. Rush is endorsing no one during the primaries. That means he is not endorsing Gingrich, Romney, Santorum or Paul

Do you need someone to tell you who to vote for?

[Problem is it is the conservative GOP versus the RINO GOP and Democrats

Sadly we are in the minority

I ain’t optimistic]

Poppy cock. There are more conservatives in this country than liberals. The elites of both parties have just managed to keep them divided.

I live in a county that has almost no Republicans. The people are 98% social conservative, and majority fiscal conservatives. They kinda remind me of Zell Miller.

These Dems run on a conservative message that could have come straight from the Republican conservative play book.

We had a conservative Republican run for state representative. His message was fiscal responsibility, pro life, pro traditional marriage etc.

He just pointed out to them that the leadership in the National Democratic party didn't believe in any of those things. And 50 years or more of Democratic representation was ended, with 70% voting for him.

Don't believe for a second that conservatives don't outnumber the libs. All these Reagan Dems have to hear is a clear conservative message from some one who truly believes it.

A warning, though, the workers are members of unions, but if you avoid attacking unions, any conservative should do well.

Rush supports anyone who can and does articulate true conservative values from the heart as Newt has been doing of late.

Their parents were Democrats, and they grew up believing that the Democrats were for the little guy, Republicans were just for the Rich.

They are not political junkies, and could not tell you what either party’s platform is. They are beginning to realize that this is NOT their father’s Democrat party, though.

The Rinos know the conservative base of the party. They just hate conservatives. Rinos think they are superior to the base of the party. They think global socialism and corporatism is superior to American constitutional liberity and small business. They want to work with rich, beautiful people - not the riff raff nobodies. They think they are citizens of the world and they don’t like Americans.

Last time conservatives rose up against them and Newt was in power, he made the election conservative and national and Rinos did not fare so well. It’s time for them to go.

They should have realized it long ago
I was raised a democrat and switched parties when I was 32 in 68 and the democrats have become much more radical since then

The "GOP Establishment" and Mitt Romney are DEMOCRAT MOLES. Dig them out. They don't care between Romney and Obama.

You don't really get it. There is no Democrat Party. There is no Republican Party. There is only the Ruling Elite, versus the rest of us. Some get to play roles on the D side of the stage, some play roles on the R side, but they are just roles. Most of them no more believe their lines than a defense attorney believes in his thug client's innocence.

When the play is done, and the lights go out, they go and hang out together and laugh at the "bitter clingers" in "flyover country".

That's how Republican consultant Mary Matelin marries Democrat consultant James Carville. Or how "conservative firebrand" Ann Coulter decides to date Bill Maher. From one way of looking at it, one could ask "how could two people with such opposite world views get together?". But they are just playing roles for money.

The real game is how to get "insider" status, and be in a position to profit from knowledge of what's really going on, and how to use influence and position to escape prosecution.

LOL. Well some people are slow learners. My self, I grew up in Reagan country. Moved here a long time ago. I don’t talk politics much, but I beat the heck out of issues and which candidate is best on the issues important to them.

In times past Rush has without a doubt been a cheerleader and waterboy for the GOP establishment, despite his protests that he’s not part of it and that they don’t like him. Bush the Elder and Bush the Illegal Alien simply had to invite Rush to hang out at the White House and he swooned.

But I have to give Palm Beach Fats credit for what he was saying today. I think he did a good job of describing what has been going on with the insiders versus the base. Whether he continues to skewer the establishment is another matter- a White House invite will likely turn his head once again.

Hannity, Mini-Me, is another matter. He is and will always remain a loyal GOP lapdog.
