Is it good or bad that Newt Gingrich makes establishment Republicans nervous?
CNN ^ | 1/25/12 | Jack Cafferty

Posted on 01/25/2012 2:18:13 PM PST by mmanager

Newt Gingrich is sending chills down the spines of establishment Republicans, and it's positively entertaining to watch.

These Republicans say things like it would be "a disaster" if he's the nominee, "There's a reason most people who know him best aren't supporting him" and "Newt means losing 45 states."

They say they're worried Gingrich would bring back the erratic, chaotic and crazy leadership from his time as House Speaker.

What's more, many worry that Gingrich at the top of the ticket would drag down Republican candidates for the House and Senate. In a nutshell, they don't think Gingrich could ever beat President Obama.

So far only 12 sitting Republican lawmakers have backed Gingrich, while more than 60 support Mitt Romney. Many who worry about Gingrich also say they doubt he'll be the party's nominee.

The irony here is that being the anti-establishment candidate could be the best thing Gingrich has going for him. The so-called establishment includes a few hundred of the most powerful and elite Republicans, from lobbyists to senior members of Congress to TV and newspaper pundits.

Do they mean as opposed to the erratic, chaotic and crazy leadership of this administration? Yeah, I’ll take Newt’s version of this leadership any day over what we have now.

I was listening to Rich Lowry on Hugh Hewitt’s show yesterday, droning on about the unelectability of Gingrich. I was like, “please, just shut up, you beotch.”

We'll soon see how well RINO's do the old "team player" thing.

Cmon boys & girls, you can't let the perfect become the enemy of the good.

Anything that makes the establishment nervous is good.

Still, if Newt is the nominee we will have the lowest turn out ever and 4 more years of Obama.

Those Republicans in Congress who are fearful of Gingrich do not want their gravy train to disappear.

For forty years the Democrats held power. The Republicans occasionally were thrown a bone, given cover and some pork to keep their constituents quiet. Meanwhile the congress was enriching themselves at the expense of the nation. The centralized government kept growing and growing…

In 1980 Ronald Reagan is elected President. Newt Gingrich, elected in 1978, jointed with others to ally with President Reagan and build the Reagan Coalition, the Religious Right, and the Republican majority - the Reagan Revolution - which directly led to the downfall of the Soviet Union, the Contract with America, government reforms, less government, tax cuts, a balanced budget, and the great, long-standing Reagan economy.

Gingrich becomes Speaker of the House and the Democrats become crazed! Budget cuts, less pork. For the first time in a very long time the Republicans actually had to govern and take responsibility. The Dems were outnumbered.

The 1998 budget was scheduled for a $1 Billion cut and congress saw the gravy train leaving the station. No more getting rich at the public’s expense.

So it became “get rid of Newt Gingrich” even to the extent of manufacturing lies about him. Those phony ethics charges that were ALL dropped, but the media continues to smear him year after year after year.

And now, older and wiser, he is back. And the corrupt in Washington, D.C., are AGAIN trying to save the status quo.

The question is, what are WE going to do?

I watched it. It was wonderful. I live right here in Rocket City USA (Huntsville AL) and we have some wonderful talent in America that needs to be challenged! What does Obambi do with NASA, instructs them to work with the Arabs on Middle East relations? WTF?

Jack Cafferty needs to adjust his meds..

Until around a year ago, Newt was an establishment republican. In 2009 and 2010 he backed the more liberal establishment candidates like Scozzafava and Castle in favor of gaining a majority. He knew that control of those houses, thereby controlling the appropriations and budget was the important first step in stopping Obama. Back in 1995, once they controlled the house and senate, Clinton was forced to deal, which is the position they wanted to place Obama into. He was killed for taking those positions,(along with cap and trade and global warming) which were the antithesis of the Tea Party who supported the more conservative candidates at the time.

I’m glad he gets it and is moving right because we need a conservative.
