Newt Gingrich better hope voters who lapped up his delicious hits on the “elite media” and liberals don’t read the Drudge Report this morning. Or the National Review. Or the American Spectator. Or Ann Coulter. If they do, Gingrich comes off looking like a dangerous, anti-Reagan, Clintonian fraud. It’s as if the conservative media over the past 24 hours decided Gingrich is for real, and they need to come clean about the man they really know before it’s too late. This is just a sampling of what’s hitting Newt:

They could do the same thing to ANY human being on Earth. Accurate schmacurate - it’s a smear campaign and that’s all there is to it. I’m not going to allow these bastards in the media and GOP establishment to influence my vote. NO MORE!!! Period! Surely you don’t believe that Newt orchestrated this smear on himself so as to set up another debate home run? That is a stretch beyond all credulity.

Where was Dole and these other guys 4 years ago when we needed a scorched earth campaign against Obama? Why didn’t we get the public statements from big-name Republicans saying the associations with Ayers, Wright, etc. made Obama truly dangerous? A good deal of this from the insiders appears to be personal slights based on Newt not “respecting” their authority and trying to stand up for conservative principles when he was just a junior member of the party. His fight against Bush, Sr. on tax hikes was as bold, brave and right as anything else, and that kind of thing certainly drives the party elites apoplectic.
Even more painful to them is that he’s shown he can win and bring the public to his side, which is when their power REALLY gets threatened. It’s been an absolute lie from the beginning that they think he can’t beat Obama. They know he can and fear that the most (as Jonah Goldberg revealed in Newtzilla to the Rescue last year).

The other night while having drinks with some prominent conservatives, I said I thought there was a significant chance that Gingrich will not only win the nomination but that he might be the next president. Going by their expressions, I might as well have said I had put a slow-acting poison in their cocktails.

There is no way that Drudge could be attacking Newt as Gaffer assured everyone last night that Drudge doesn’t have an ounce of anti-Newt bias on his site. According to Gaffer, Drudge only cares about the news and page hits. /s
Is it any wonder Drudge is a fan of Mitt Romney, the first governor in the U.S. to preside over state-sanctioned gay marriage?

Drudge has never been said to particularly relish his homosexuality or embrace it; in fact his gay romantic/sexual side has been described (when alleged) as conflicted and awkward.
David Brock, the former right-wing writer, wrote in his memoir Blinded by the Right about a “scary” date in which Drudge, after bringing Brock flowers and navigating the Santa Monica gay strip “like a pro,” stepped on a competing suitor’s foot “really hard” (in Drudge’s purported words) in a nightclub to scare him away from Brock.
Alec Baldwin stated that Drudge made an advance on him in an ABC Studios hallway, a proposition that had “kind of a creepy quality to it.”
Drudge denied he was gay to the Miami New Times in 2001, even as he launched into a disquisition on (as the New Times put it) “the reigning DJ king of gay circuit parties” and summarized his nightlife thusly: “I go to straight bars, I go to gay bars.”
So, after listening to Rush today, I assume you’ll be going after him as anti-Newt now. You also mischaracterize my prior statements on the other thread.
I said he linked to articles, etc. I also said that I remembered him putting up links unfavorable to more than just Newt.
Your sarc stuff is getting old. Why don’t you explain in detail why some of the stuff you complain about is wrong or false about the articles instead of whining about the messenger(s)?
Rush just spoke about some of what has been said is true and offered up contradictory statements Newt has made. I’m trying very hard here to not Newt-bash because I intend to vote for him. However, your blind support isn’t helping to convince anyone except those like you.
I sure hope the DRUGGEDREPORT posts all the articles exposing the misleading and false stories they posted about Newt.

Look, you can stick your head in the sand if you want to. You can be the right equivalent of the Obamabots. You know, pick your guy and stick with him no matter what. It’s your option.
I’m going to listen to it all. A lot of people what were previously revered on this site, are now seen as RINOs because they don’t love Newt.
Something is going on that doesn’t pass the smell test. I don’t know what, exactly, but I’m going to pay attention and hope to find out.
And I got this from Rush Limbaugh... I know he’s not flawless, but he is pretty sharp. And the audio clips were Newt, saying Reaganism is passe.

What I (and many others) correctly pointed out is that your butt buddy Matt Drudge is going all out to kill off Newt for the sole purpose of saving your left wing savior, Mitt Romney.

You aren’t very astute, nor do you apparently read much.
Show me one post where I’ve ever said here I want Romney to win. Quite the contrary, in fact. It’s true I’ve had problems with Gingrich early on, but since it appears he can take Romney, I’ll vote for him because Romney is no better than Obama. It doesn’t mean that I’ll fall in lock-step and trash anyone anywhere that happens to link or post articles that have an opinion, one way or another.
I don’t resort to epithets when someone doesn’t agree with me. I also haven’t called you a liar, or asked you to stick anything up your @ss....class act....
Here in Chicago, the “Roe & Roeper” show comes on immediately after Rush Limbaugh on WLS 890AM. The show’s host, Roe Conn, is now going full bore with a “Newt is CRAZY!” meme. He’s is totally bashing Newt, and making it look like anyone who supports him is nuts too. Newt’s crazy because he believes that someday there might be condo’s on the moon. Yeah, that’s crazy. They were saying the same thing about Stanley Kubrik back in the 60’s after the release of 2001: A Space Odyssey. (Not.)
Roe Conn is no fan of Romney either, and is obviously on to Romney’s game of disinformation and attacks on his opponents, but Roe isn’t helping things by stepping up the anti-Newt rhetoric to insane levels of stupidity.
I’ve never, ever seen such a concentrated attack on a single candidate in my life.
