Forget global warming - it's Cycle 25 we need to worry about

The supposed ‘consensus’ on man-made global warming is facing an inconvenient challenge after the release of new temperature data showing the planet has not warmed for the past 15 years.

The figures suggest that we could even be heading for a mini ice age to rival the 70-year temperature drop that saw frost fairs held on the Thames in the 17th Century.

Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997.

WHEN has global WARMING EVER been a negative?

Probably never. The current average temperature of Earth is 58 degrees. Scientists used to call periods of warming in Earth's history optimums. I don't know if they still do.

Yes. Look at any text about the earth’s climate written before the left got its enthusiasm for CO2 as the cause of all things evil, and you find references to the Medieval climate optimum, the Roman climate optimum, the Minoan climate optimum and the Holocene climate optimum. Climate optimum, not warm period. Warm is good for mankind, cold is bad (though personally, I don’t mind it, having some Lappish ancestors whom I favor in terms of physiognomy and metabolism).

I welcome the fairly unusual winter weather we’re having here in MI. I still see some of the ponds and small lakes freezing, frost, “black ice” and occasional snow flurries but no blizzards, ice storms or snow drifts being moved around.

I expected to hear some of the local news and weather “authorities” explain it away or merely suggest it as being evidence of global warming/climate change but I’ve been surprised to hear nothing to that effect. However, they sure are in the tank for Obama’s green energy policies, the GM Volt and all of the things that go with the assumption that global warming is something we should take credit and responsibility for.

I received a little gift from Consumers Energy (gas) the other day. I didn’t order it for myself, though. It’s in a nice box and has printed on one side, “FREE! Energy Efficiency Starter Kit”. The kit consists of two 13w compact flourescent light bulbs, one flow-restricting adjustable shower head with the word “Earth” printed on it in green script and two different faucet aerators made by Niagra Conservation Co. in New Jersey. There is also some sort of plastic seal or adaptive device needed for the installation of one of these items. The overall product quality looks good but I will not put any of these items to the test. What I will do is send back the whole kit and kaboodle with a letter explaining why I’m not interested and why I resent their ‘generosity’.

Don’t worry about hHansen, and Company. Many ofthem these nattering nabobs of the nanny state doom day cult were prophets(profits?) of Global “cooling”. They will just say “Ooops!! We we right the first time” and continue will the scam.

I was thinking more of the more northern parts. Warmer winters mean a longer growing season, which means higher agricultural productivity.

These lazy arse liberal “researchers” .....What a bunch of money grubbing, grant seekers. They are trying to kill the pipeline from your Canada to America. There is no phony like a liberal arts major eco-phony.

Even Jug Ears knows this is bs.... I never hear him say “global warming” anymore

Propane for me. I got 500 gallons in November and I’m still at 50%. If things keep going the way they are, I’ll fill up in February and not have to worry about it again till fall.

Supposed to be cold tonight but only down into the 30s tomorrow night and into the mid 40s again by Tuesday.

How about sharing your six minute presentation?

Sure.

I start off with asking if they think climate is a steady state thing. Do they AUTOMATICALLY get the exact same climate as their ancestors before them? Throughout the history of mankind...has every human ALWAYS been the recipient of the same climate as their fore-fathers.

Then I move to a history of recent climate change. It warms, it cools (Holocene Climate Optimums [Egypt flourishes then famine], Roman Climate Optimum, Dark Ages, Medieval Warm Period-Renaissance, Little Ice Age, Present).

I go into the COOLING and history of LIA (Little Ice Age). Then I move into what comes AFTER COOLING. I ask if it warmed after the ice age and if they think glaciers MELTED after the ice age? AND if so, how long that took. I say: "You know those glaciers in Switzerland that they are worried about melting? Less than 500 years ago there were priests at the foot of those glaciers casting the demons out of them because they were advancing SO FAST. They were swallowing up whole towns...fields...vineyards. Now they are receding (and really...in the grand scheme of things is 500 years that long?). Kinda seems like they don't belong there in the FIRST place. So what makes us think that it's something WE are doing that is making them disappear...when they were not there 500 years ago? We didn't make them show up...RIGHT?

I then touch on the the fact global warming is caused by the sun and solar activity. LIA was caused by the Maunder min and that the lack of sunspots allowed galactic rays to create more clouds. When the sun is active, there is more solar wind and that keeps galactic rays away from the earth and thus there is less cloud cover. There is a scientifically links DIRECT relationship between cosmic rays and cloud cover (wonder how many FReepers knew that...which is why CYCLE 25 disappearing is a little frightening).

Next we discuss the great data variability in temps with the satellite data vs terrestrial data.

Terrestrial data is contaminated. Studies show up to 86% of ALL temp. sensors are heat contaminated due to heat island...most by over 1 deg C and 64% are contaminated by 2C.

Data also shows areas where urban growth is greatest, there is a higher impact on temps...especially in overnight lows. AND due to end of the Cold War and a decrease in funding, we have lost thousands of observing sites across the globe in sparse areas. This has left the majority of the observing sites in urbanized areas.

Two observing sites near Marysville, CA (only 10 miles apart) have been continuously observing for over 100 years. One still resides in a field...just like it did over 100 years ago and one now resides in the city. Guess which one shows global warming? Average them BOTH and they show global warming...but is it really?

Satellite measurements show we have stopped warming. AGW crowd wanted to use satellite as a tool until it went against the agenda. Now they want to use land based data...but again 86% of ALL observing sites ARE contaminated by 1C...and yet EVEN the AGW crowd says we've only warmed by .4C.

So does that mean we've cooled?

Also...think about it logically. CO2 is such a SMALL percentage of greenhouse gas. Plus, ice core samples have proved that CO2 is a lagging factor is temp...not a leading factor. They have also proved that there have been periods in the past where the CO2 levels have been MUCH higher than they are now...several times higher...and yet the temps did not respond in a greenhouse manner. Again...a lagging indicator. Water vapor is the most important greenhouse gas. CO2 makes up a very small percentage...and man's contribution to that CO2 total is smaller still.

THEN the final question: But...let's assume I am ALL wrong. Let's go back to the beginning. In the HISTORY of mankind...can you show me ONE EXAMPLE where mankind EVER suffered as a whole from global warming? The Egyptians flourished, The Romans thrived. Cooling brought on the dark ages and the plague. The only GOOD thing that global cooling did was cause the English (my ancestors here in the US) to switch from wine producing to beer making...and it drove them to seek America. Other than that...nothing good has ever happened when the earth cooled.
