Mitt and the White Horse Prophecy

Romney avoids mentioning it, but [Joseph] Smith ran for president in 1844 as an independent commander in chief of an “army of God” advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government in favor of a Mormon-ruled theocracy. Challenging Democrat James Polk and Whig Henry Clay, Smith prophesied that if the U.S. Congress did not accede to his demands that “they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them.” Smith viewed capturing the presidency as part of the mission of the church. He had predicted the emergence of “the one Mighty and Strong” — a leader who would “set in order the house of God” — and became the first of many prominent Mormon men to claim the mantle.

Smith’s insertion of religion into politics and his call for a “theodemocracy where God and people hold the power to conduct the affairs of men in righteous matters” created a sensation and drew hostility from the outside world. But his candidacy was cut short when he was shot to death by an anti-Mormon vigilante mob. Out of Smith’s national political ambitions grew what would become known in Mormon circles as the “White Horse Prophecy” — a belief ingrained in Mormon culture and passed down through generations by church leaders that the day would come when the U.S. Constitution would “hang like a thread as fine as a silk fiber” and the Mormon priesthood would save it.

Romney is the product of this culture. At BYU, he was idolized by fellow students and referred to, only half jokingly, as the “One Mighty and Strong.” He was the “alpha male” in the rarefied Cougar pack, according to Michael D. Moody, a BYU classmate and fellow member of the group...

The lds-org denies that Jesus is the Creator, that everything was created THROUGH Him, BY Him and FOR Him.

There is a ‘White Horse’ in biblical prophecy...I know who rides it. Pretty sure that He’s not a mormon nor named Romney!

The lds-org has a very low definition of Divinity.

Very incorrect is more like it.

Save it? As what, under a "theodemocracy", whatever *that* may be? As a relic of a distant past? This is what is known as "cognitive dissonance", or the simultaneous acceptance of mutually exclusive conditions...

Yes sir
1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.

4 And there went out another horse [that was] red: and [power] was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and [see] thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.

8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Revelation: Chapter 6 (which btw and coincidentally has surfaced in conversations a couple of times since last nite)

Well we were not all forced in to Catholicism when Kennedy got into the Whitehouse and I’m doubly doubting that a President Mitt will put us on the road to magic shirts and multiple wives. I guess this puts me on the record Rooster - so if there are forced marches to the temple I’ll be feeling like a real ass.

“So, if Romney becomes President, he converts the entire country to Mormonism?”

Great line. I resisted Islam under Obama. I can resist Mitt. I am the resistance. After all, what would the Pope say?

I sheepishly asked to have my post deleted when I read Revelations 6 further in context!! Hell followed the "pale" horse, seated by Death; the white horse was seated by a man with a bow and crown.

Are they one and the same?

In any case, Romney is depraved enough that while he was Governor of Massachusetts, officially endorsed and praised a Gay Youth Pride event put on at a junior high school!!! In Romney's eyes, that was proper use of government, to condone kids not even old enough to drive declaring and "celebrating" their own sexual perversion, a perversion specifically condemned in the Bible.

FReepers, if God Forbid this despicable man won the GOP nomination and it was him vs. Obama, think LONG AND HARD about the consequences of approaching this election only in terms of voting "against" Obama. Remember what you would be voting for -- a person craven and wicked enough to use his political office to congratulate children's embrace among themselves of open homosexuality.

It goes hand-in-hand with the taxpayer subsidized $50 easy abortion option in his RomeyCare, and that alone is and has always been ALL THAT IS NEEDED to reject Romney outright. Judging Romney the lesser evil compared to Obama is wishful thinking.

If you vote "against" Obama by voting for Romney, THAT kind of depravity is what you WOULD be voting FOR.

My vote will go elsewhere if Romney gets the nod.

Well I wondered. You were correct that Death and Hell follows. You just made no allusion to the others prior. Didn't see that as out of context. No...not one and the same.

Still, there is a wealth of material you can post without resorting to attacks on his faith

If he was a muslim, would attacking his "faith" be acceptable?

If Mullah Omar was running for POTUS, could he just show up at debate after debate and just not mention the fact that he is a top jihadi , and the media not care?

This is huge, he's not just some schmuck who shows up in Church every Sunday, ROMNEY-PRATT FAMILY IS THE MORMON CULT IN AMERICA, and he is at the top tier of the MORMON PRIESTHOOD.

This news needs to be spread far and wide, these are CRAZY people, and he is one of their leadership.

PRECISELY. Very well said.

lol. I don't think there will be forced conversions, so I'll be an ass too if there are.;-)

What worries me is the power the Mormon church will grab with Romney in the WH...and the money.

Maybe so. But nonetheless, I'll take a Mormon Republican over a goshknowswhat Obama any time. Articles like these are meant to demoralize us.

Guess it’s possible, but what decisions in the president’s scope would benefit them to the exclusion of others?

Provided that the church is now run by rational folk that can keep their magic shirts on, there’s way too much to risk with even the appearance of Mormon influence. A Mormon president will be the single most legitimizing event for the church that I can think of. Even a small uptick in their rate of growth * 10% = big ol’ money.

It's with sadness that I say "Thank you." I hope and pray that Santorum supporters in Florida will ponder what evil they could very well be enabling by voting such to assist Romney. This truly IS a time to vote their conscience.

This thought just crossed my mind: Better the enemy you know than one who manifests himself as an “angel of light.”
