Romney Advisor: Putting the boot on the neck of Gingrich. Aiming to destroy Gingrich in FL for good.
Buzz Feed ^

Posted on 01/29/2012 12:30:25 PM PST by Windy City Conservative

After Gingrich Newt scored a surprise blow-out victory in South Carolina last week, the former Massachusetts governor not only unleashed a political broadside of epic proportions.

"It not about winning here anymore," one Romney staffer told BuzzFeed. "It's about destroying Gingrich — and it's working."

After two standout debate performances that put him up 9 points in recent polls, Romney is keeping the pressure on Gingrich, looking to score a blow-out victory of his own here.

To that end, Romney has rolled out a team of surrogates in the Sunshine State to take the fight to Gingrich in person: from Connie Mack (III) and Connie Mack (IV), to Rep. Jason Chaffetz and Sen. John McCain. Romney has also aired a controversial ad featuring Tom Brokaw announcing that Gingrich had been sanctioned by the House.

Today both Macks took the stage before Romney to attack Gingrich's character, proclaiming that he has a “checkered past with ethics and honesty."

Romney also launched into his longest attack directed squarely at Gingrich, devoting almost four minutes of his 18 minute stump speech attacking the former Speaker of the House.

"Mr. Speaker, your trouble in Florida is not because the audience is too quiet or too loud or because you have opponents that are tough," Romney said, comparing Gingrich's complaints about debate audiences to Goldilocks. Then, with a broad smile on his face, he listed the reasons why Florida voters are now moving away from Gingrich's campaign.

"Your problem in Florida is that you worked for Freddie Mac at a time when Freddie Mac was not doing the right thing for the American people," he added.

Shortly after Romney's remarks, his campaign emailed "Earth to Newt: Tell The Truth" detailing a long list of alleged lies while mocking his ambitious space agenda.

I was going to vote for Romney, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Someone needs to do a video of Newt knocking down Mittens with a Thu'um:

Fus-Ro-Dah!

Maybe you don’t understand the point I was trying to make and I should be clearer. Either Santorum is in or he’s out. There is no middle ground. The proposal to suspend “just for now, just in this one state,” is like being a ‘little bit pregnant.’

Santorum cannot ask his supporters who’ve expended considerable resources in FL for the past month or so to suspend their efforts on his behalf and to vote for Newt AND THEN, turn around, and expect any support in any other state. Won’t happen. It’s all or nothing in these contests.

Santorum can withdraw from the contest as Perry did, and throw his support to Newt, or he can stay in, hoping against hope to win. But he cannot both stay in the contest AND throw only his FL support to Newt. And, we have no idea that if Santorum were to withdraw he would throw his support to Newt vs Romney.

I don’t think you have to worry about a RINO in the WH. Even IF Romney gets the nomination, he will not win the general election. He’s alienated too much of the GOP base.

Too bad RINOs use leftist DemocRat thug-style politics only against other Republicans instead of against the left.

I guess that’s part of what makes them RINOs.

Why does Mitt Romney remind me of Bill Clinton so much?

Romney has the slickness of Clinton but little of the charm. Billy Jeff is a lot of things, but wooden and awkward aren't among them.

“But I will remember this. I will never, ever support, or vote for, Romney. I would prefer Obama.”

Willard the Rat is the most contemptible Republican candidate since Gerald Ford, and we know what happened to him. Jimmy Carter beat him for crying out loud. Romney may lose upwards of 45 states if he wins the nomination.

I am changing my affiliation from republican to independent.

BECAUSE of the GOP elite/establishment being anti-conservative and nothing but democrat-lite, I changed my party affiliation from Republican to Independent in 2007. All they've done since then has confirmed I did the right thing.

"Romney is using his huge personal fortune not just to win, but to destroy."

Romney is a BAD Mormon. He is a pathetic, vindictive weakling. The establishment wants him in there because they can manipulate him and force him to do what they tell him to. Typical greedy, rich, self-righteous ass. I was born and raised Mormon. Grew up in Utah. There are GOOD Mormons (patriotic, God-fearing, family-loving, etc) and there are BAD mormons, and Mitt Romney and Hairy Reed are perfect examples

BTW, just how huge is your cat? Huge enough for a family in the oven? I really wouldn't know how to tell. But even her head is large as are her paws...and she is solid...strong bones which I figure she's been chowing on mice and birds maybe. I've been feeding her whenever she wants...which is often it seems. Part dry food and part wet because i really am not certain which is better. Another reason to have a vet check. I'm compiling a list of questions for that.

I had adopted my sons cat for a time, when his wife was pregnant..but she had all her shots etc. so I've never had to go it from the start. This cat is very much larger! Again she seems big all around. I bought a cat bed last night and she fills it all!

will they (Repub-e) really get the message if Romney loses the General by 20?

To borrow a witticism I cannot match, nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the Stupid Party. It's entirely possible the GOP-E will never learn. Nevertheless, I won't be voting for Romney.

The last SAntorum said was that none of the candidates have asked him to drop out.....I doubt he will do so unless those surrounding the other candidates start putting that pressure on.

I’m also not certain it’d be good to drop out for Florida since they lost half their delegates. There may bigger fights ahead where if Santorum does drop out it will be when it might matter even more.

I’m pretty convinced he will support Newt over Romney.

The delusions by folks here on FR are laughable. I understand everyone has jumped on the Newt bandwagon. He’d make a good president for sure. But some of the things folks are saying, sound like something liberals would say. Surely folks don’t truely believe some of the things they are saying?

Regardless of who the republican nominee is, the race will come down to 5-6 states. That is the current state of our country. Romney will not lose 45 states. You surely don’t believe that. Because if you do, I have some prime oceanfront swampland I’d love to sell.

Look at it this way..... do you think Obama will run a more or less nasty campaign than Romney is? If Newt can’t battle back against Romney, he will get slaughtered by Team Obama. Because Obama and his billions is going to go all out against the republican and bring up every nasty thing they have ever said or done. Because Obama can’t run on his record. He will be out to destroy the republican nominee. If you thought Cain had it bad, wait until Obama’s team parades 10 women out who had affairs with Newt (or at least that is what they will say, and unfortunately it will stick. Ask Cain.)

I will not support Romney if he is the nominee. He may succeed in getting the nomination; however, he has further succeeded in destorying any conservative support in the fall. They’ll set on their hands, the same way they did with McCain and Dole. There is no way he can unite the GOP behind him if he even wins in the fall.

What a pure prick.
