Family says teen didn't have to die (Yes he did.....society is better off)

It all happened last Wednesday. Prosecutors say Johnson, who was already on probation for aggravated assault, robbed two men in West Reading and was attempting to rob a third along a bike path in Cumru Township in Berks County. But the would-be victim was carrying a licensed firearm, and shot two of his attackers. Johnson was killed. A friend is now in the hospital.

Johnson's mother, Idella Hopkins George, said, "Do I believe he was justified in shooting my son? I would say no."

The family acknowledges Johnson's actions were wrong, but they question why a warning shot couldn't have been fired first.

Johnson's sister, Ashley Jones, said, "He's a kid. His actions-- I don't approve of his actions at all, but he didn't deserve to have his life taken."

In recent days a Facebook memorial page has been flooded with sometimes hateful posts -- referring to Johnson as a "thug" who died like the dog he was.

A bicyclist with a weapon on a bicycle path? The thugs must have thought they had easy prey. Boy did they miscalculate.

Tip of the hat to the cyclist for being on the ready. Good kill. You saved lives.

I see these inner city mothers every day. I see them trying to excuse their sons’ (and, believe or not, daughters’) behavior on everything, or anybody except where the blame really belongs...the U. S. Government.

Fatherhood is a long-gone relic of the past in this neck of the woods, Shreveport, LA to be specific. Government is now pappa. I guarantee this woman lives on Pappas Plantation.

My oath will be held, Sir! This We’ll Defend!

This is him:

Yeah. A kid. But one who apparently had no qualms about using some kind of force to successfully (though not in this case) assault and rob adults. I would guess a gun.

Julius Johnson killed on the job.
Johnson’s mother, Idella Hopkins George.
Johnson’s sister, Ashley Jones

Outstanding! Since there is no thumbs up here you get a virtual gold star.

Idella raised a thug, she screwed up.

I wish the shooter had been able to exercise better gun control and held his target picture of the second assailant. If he had we would be rid of this breeder as well.

Trench shotguns don’t have so much problem with targeting but they are difficult to transport and conceal. The only safe within 10 yards of one though is directly behind it.

And there is no such thing as "shoot to wound," because arteries are everywhere.

It is shoot to stop the threat. If it means shoot center mass, then shoot center mass. To fire a warning shot, requires the same conditions, as to fire for affect. Why would anyone fire a warning shot, when the same requirements exist?

If you can fire a warning shot, pulling the weapon was not necessary.

Uh, may I say something about the young fellow?

“It all happened last Wednesday. Prosecutors say Johnson, who was already on probation for aggravated assault,”

HE WAS ALREADY A CAREER CRIMINAL!

Exactly. At least, that is what the law is going to say. I admit that part of me still resists buying totally 100% into it, but that is likely the part that has watched too many guns shot out of people’s hands at the movies.

What makes me buy into it 100% is knowing full well I will be treated as the criminal, even if my actions of firing a warning shot DID directly prevent me from becoming a statistic.

Julius Johnson is dead because he was stupid and picked the wrong victim. It is that simple.

As a dog lover, I wish the commenter had said "rabid dog" or "rat bastard", or something like that, something more appropriate.

Since you brought race into the equation, 75%+ births in Memphis are out of wedlock. Over 85% of babies born to blacks in Memphis are out of wedlock. According to this article, over 73% of black children are out of wedlock, so Yes it may be a guess that this woman never married and her children are out of wedlock, but it is a educated guess.

Bike paths around here are called rape paths, as they have been the scene of many, including one rape/murder a few years ago.

“TRU, DAT!”

Hasta luego Senior Johnson. Good riddance. Innocent lives in the future have been spared. All due to the prepared cyclist who made ready for your appearance, who then followed thru to make real your early departure.

This cyclist deserves a Congressional Medal of Honor. He saved who knows how many lives in the future.

“Bike paths around here are called rape paths, as they have been the scene of many, including one rape/murder a few years ago.”

Thugs figure cyclists on bike paths are easy targets. Not in this case, though. In this case, we got what should be a Congressional Medal of Honor winner. But such honors are restricted to “official” battlegrounds. Maybe we should change bike paths to official battlegrounds.

Since folks are commonly murdered, and raped, on city or remote bike paths, by thugs and perverts, then when a thug or pervert is killed in the process of committing a heinous crime, on a bike path, then the accosted, who eliminates the thug, or pervert, should at least, get some sort of national medal of honor.

We need some rule changes. The streets, and bike paths, of America, are all war zones. America is a battlefield. We should have honors for civilians who take out these perps, who are reaping havoc upon the innocent, on the streets, and bike paths, of America.
