Family says teen didn't have to die (Yes he did.....society is better off)

It all happened last Wednesday. Prosecutors say Johnson, who was already on probation for aggravated assault, robbed two men in West Reading and was attempting to rob a third along a bike path in Cumru Township in Berks County. But the would-be victim was carrying a licensed firearm, and shot two of his attackers. Johnson was killed. A friend is now in the hospital.

Johnson's mother, Idella Hopkins George, said, "Do I believe he was justified in shooting my son? I would say no."

The family acknowledges Johnson's actions were wrong, but they question why a warning shot couldn't have been fired first.

Johnson's sister, Ashley Jones, said, "He's a kid. His actions-- I don't approve of his actions at all, but he didn't deserve to have his life taken."

In recent days a Facebook memorial page has been flooded with sometimes hateful posts -- referring to Johnson as a "thug" who died like the dog he was.

The kid was stupid and so is the rest of his family. That is not a gratuitous insult it is a fact.

Yeah, he was “turning his life around.”

So now he's on the other side of the grass.

More like the victim wasn’t a police officer and was just defending himself.

Right, some guy is breaking into my house and I’m going to shoot the wall and say “stop”?

You will have noticed how my post was removed for, what reasons?

maybe because you are revolting..wild guess?

actually you should be proud of me..despite my moniker I almost never join the torches and pitchforks high fives here over tragedy of the foolish and young like many of our tough guys and gals here...guess I'm a wuss

but in this case these were a group of thugs who did attack several folks and they simply messed up on the last victim

i'm sure the mom will miss her kid and is hurting but the old guy had a right to defend himself from being stomped or worse

i do not like some here enjoy seeing stupid die so young but they brought it on themselves and left the man little choice

Beware of old men carrying weapons, as a rule they are kind, courteous and respectful and know how to kill you. They have probably been shooting for many many many years. They do not wish to be hurt or die. They will kill you.

There it is.

Actions have consequences.

Sadly, these men learned that lesson a little too late.

And it should have come from mom, where the lesson could have been learned at a much lesser cost.

. . .why a warning shot couldn't have been fired first.

If one warning shot, then why not two, or three, or more? Heck, why not just give the thug your wallet - afterall, doesn't he deserve it?

Why is it that Obama supporters always have an entitlement mentality, blame the other guy, and never take responsibility for their own actions, and the consequences of those actions???

“The family acknowledges Johnson’s actions were wrong, but they question why a warning shot couldn’t have been fired first.”

She's right you know, I was always taught to fire a warning shot, in fact I was taught to fire three. 2 to center mass and third to head.

All three shots are a warning to the next guy that he gets the same if he attacks me.

Came very close to firing some "warning" shots last week when "Pillbillies" tried to break in our building at around 3 AM.

Even the drug fogged brains of those poor bastards understood to seek elsewhere for their business and hightailed it out of there.

Yes, it would be helpful if the papers would run flow sheet type diagrams to explain the relationships of the parties involved.

I used the word “statistics”, twice.

You are making the logical error of assuming righteousness without evidence. I am saying that the *probability* that she is a person who has made bad personal choices, and is likely a bad parent, is *considerably* higher than the *probability* that she is as you described, a ‘good parent’ who is unlucky.

This is *supported* in that her deceased offspring is a repeat offender, known to the local police and having been convicted previously.

So what would a good parent do? (Select from list)

1) Give child a strong moral upbringing.

2) Discourage child from associating with peers of low moral character.

3) Limit student from travel and activities at night.

4) Seek support from any of the numerous organizations that provide constructive activities for children.

5) If you live in a bad neighborhood, or one that is a bad influence on your child, prepare to move, then move. If the urban influence is bad, move to a more suburban or even rural area.

6) If your child has been arrested, place them under strict discipline which does not end until they are an adult no longer in your care.

While you might *assume* that she did one or more of these things, again *statistically*, the odds are *strongly* that she did not.

I can back up my assertions with numbers, but you can only do so with faith and hope that maybe she is in the statistical minority.

72% of black children are born out of wedlock.

http://www.bvblackspin.com/2010/11/08/72-percent-of-african-american-children-born-to-unwed-mothers/

Various studies have shown that children raised by a single mother comprise about 70% of juvenile murderers, delinquents, teenaged mothers, drug abusers, dropouts, suicides and runaways.

“HE WAS ALREADY A CAREER CRIMINAL!”

Yep, and very likely to repeat his crimes over and over. If his family, his community and society as a whole were concerned about his safety, he should have been locked up, safe from people who have the constitutional right to protect themselves.

"The lady is in grief."

Not exactly, she's in DENIAL.

Many DENY the truth that is staring them in the face and then attempt to LIE and portray the criminal as the victim when justice is served and the media is complicit in doing so.
