I applaud you for taking the long-term view. I too will support anyone but Obama for that very reason, all it will take is one more liberal on the SCOTUS and our last check-and-balance against runaway socialism will be in jeopardy.
I look at it this way: George W Bush told us he was a “compassionate conservative” and certainly did some things that veered very far from conservative principles. Yet he appointed Justice Samuel Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts, two outstanding jurists who understand their role in protecting America.
For me, preventing Obama from appointing another Sotomayor or Kagan is all the reason I need to vote for the GOP candidate. Even a weak conservative President will do more to protect the Republic than any liberal democrat will.

He can do that and often does........the problem is, I simply don't believe a damn thing Romney says.
This is not a religion comment, I just don't know how else to phrase it....I see no "soul" in Romney, no core conviction, just a used car salesman. I can't sign on to that.

At the start of the next debate when Newt is asked the first question he needs to ignore the question, pivot to Willard the liberal and say.

No more Mr. nice guy for Newt Gingrich. He either calls out this rotten son-of-a-bitch liberal or he loses the nomination to him. Nothing much can be done about the blitz of lying campaign ads, except to run your own. But debates he can control. The exit polls after SC and Florida said the debates were one of the primary factors people used in deciding who to vote for. Newt can not let the lowlife bastard Romney get one up on him again. He’s the better man and needs to prove it.

Yeah, but the the “When Mitt Romney Comes to Town” wasn’t a sweet little fairy tale. I’m not here to get into a “but R/G was worse”—there has been ugliness all around.
Reagan showed us that Americans respond to optimism and an upbeat demeanor. Both of these guys need to go positive, run against the LEFT, not just the president. Clearly express a positive vision and PLEASE, no more attacks on private equity, Wall Street or making a profit! The Obama administration and their witch hunt against mortgage backed securities is bad enough.
I already did upthread. If Romney gets the nomination I will not voter for him.
