Breaking: CNN, ABC report Trump to endorse … Romney; Update: WaPo confirms it’s Romney

Say, isn’t this starting to resemble a certain reality-game show on television? Or would I be fired for pointing that out? Last night, reports surfaced that casino and real-estate tycoon Donald Trump would endorse Newt Gingrich in Nevada today, just two days before the binding caucuses. This morning, both CNN and ABC say that Trump will now endorse … Mitt Romney:

Mitt Romney will receive Donald Trump’s presidential endorsement Thursday, sources with knowledge of the endorsement told CNN.

Trump will make the announcement in Las Vegas, two days before the Nevada caucuses.

ABC is a little more specific about its sourcing:

Donald Trump will endorse Mitt Romney in Las Vegas on Thursday, sources familiar with the decision tell ABC News.

A political aide in Trump’s office spoke directly with Mitt Romney by phone last night before Trump’s private plane took off from New York City to Las Vegas.

The call, sources say, was to inform Romney of Thursday’s endorsement, which will take place at a 12:30 p.m. event at the Trump International Hotel on the Las Vegas strip.

A contracting company used by the Romney campaign has been setting up for the event since Wednesday night.

This won’t help willard gain the nomination. Conservatives know that the donald is a political bisexual and mitt cannot breakthrough w/o conservatives. Now, the donald has given up his chance to run 3rd party from the right if mittens is the nominee.

Trump needs to be on the side of The Chosen One, and not having opposed him. It's purely a business decision, and one that's been made in Corporate Board Rooms everywhere.

ONLY We The People can stop Obama-lite, aka, Romney-the-RINO, but with the State-Run-Media and constant hype of "Inevitable", too many un-informed will vote for "A Winner", and not want to vote any other way.

We very well may be seeing the intentional loss to The Messiah by the RNC, just as we did with McLame when we were forced to vote for him. It's not looking good for Conservatives OR Limited Government in the future, period.

Odd how just yesterday when we heard Trump was going to endorse Newt, Trump’s endorsement was considered a good thing...

Can’t help but wonder if his endorsement was sold to the highest bidder???

I kind of like Trump. It would be nice to see him endorse Newt.

He’s nothing if not a publicity hound. My guess he’s trying to stir up interest with conflicting info. Maybe he’s endorsing BOTH of them. LOL.

It doesn’t matter. The left will use this to bolster their “Republicans are for the rich” mantra. It would have been nice for Newt’s campaign to have some of his cash, though.

Who the heck knows what is going on under that ridiculous hair.

I thought the same thing. That is hilarious. So, do we hate Demint now too? I’m just trying to keep up with who I’m supposed to hate.

The only thing I liked about the idea that Trump might endorse Newt was the possibility that Trump would bring his own money and big money donors with him.

I saw a Trump interview with Greta several months ago in which he was talking about Romney’s finances. He told Greta that he’d seen Romney’s financials, and he wasn’t impressed. He said that he (Trump) had a much higher net worth. Now, considering that Romney’s net worth is supposed to be somewhere close to half a billion (with a B!) dollars, the two of them together have a combined personal wealth that would exceed the GDP of some countries. If Trump’s endorsing Romney, Newt’s financial situation just became more threatened, and it was already pretty shaky.

On the plus side, I’m looking forward to seeing Newt’s Super PAC put together a campaign ad with back-to-back clips showing Trump saying “You’re fired!” with Romney saying “I like to fire people!”

I have to chuckle. Earlier today, there was a thread with a ton of Freepers going about how wonderful and important Trump’s endorsement was...when they thought it was going to Newt.

I've never understood some posters near cult worship of him.
