Silver can kill some tumours better than chemotherapy with fewer side effects

Silver can kill some cancers as effectively as chemotherapy with potentially fewer side effects, new research claims.

Scientists say that old wives tales about the precious metal being a ‘silver bullet’ to beat the Big C could be true.

The metal already has a wide range of medicinal uses and is a common antiseptic, antibiotic and means of purifying water in the third world.

And British researchers now say that silver compounds are as effective at killing certain cancer cells as a leading chemotherapy drug, but with potentially far fewer side-effects.

They compared it to Cisplatin, currently used to treat a wide variety of cancers, but known to have harsh side effects including nausea, vomiting and even kidney damage.

Silver is used already in everyday products such as deodorant with no known side-effects, and could make for a potentially cheaper alternative to platinum-based Cisplatin.

Researchers from the University of Leeds conducted lab tests which exposed breast and colon cancer cells to various silver-based chemicals over a six day period. These silver-compounds were ‘as effective as Cisplatin’ at killing cancer with potentially fewer side effects.

While the team are still unsure about how exactly silver battles cancer, they think its effectiveness may be caused by the structure surrounding silver atoms, known as its ligand.

They think this may help release the silver ion into cells when it enters the body, killing any cancer.

Study author Dr Charlotte Willans plans to spend the next year looking closely at what effect silver has on both cancerous and healthy cells, and whether it could be a safe and effective new anti-cancer drug.

'It’s certainly an exciting discovery, although I think we have a lot of work to do in the future. It opens the doors in terms of what we can do and investigate.

I have some personal exposure to chemotherapy due to my Labrador Retriever developing cancer late in life. I could afford it at the time, and he was my baby so to speak, so I had him treated for it. Nothing that would make him miserable or sick. The most beneficial thing we did for him was carboplatin and then radiation treatment of the tumor. Not sure why the two were regarded as somehow synergetic, but that’s what I recall. He was never sick, didn’t lose his coat (dogs typically don’t unless they’re a breed noted for not shedding) and the cancer was in retreat. He died of other causes, almost fifteen years old, happy as a clam until the day he died. Still miss him, always will I suspect.

Cisplatin is a harsh one, carboplatin not so much, at least for dogs, which are similar in many ways to humans as far as reaction to chemotherapy and responsiveness to it. There was another that we were going to introduce into the regimen before he died, can’t recall the name but it’s made from something natural. I want to say avocado pits, but that’s that controversial thing from the seventies, laetrile? Not it, but the origin is close.

People wear copper bracelets for arthritis, maybe people should start wearing more silver jewelry to prevent cancer

He, and others like him, were also taking many times the recommended dosage. I take it everyday also and have for several years. Haven’t turned blue yet. Not even a tinge ~ and you’d be able to tell cause I’m a Swede and white as can be! Colloidal silver has cured a gum boil for me. Not an easy thing to treat a root infection even with antibiotics.

I always tell people to eat their silver. Have talked myself blue in the face trying to convince the doubters.

What about Gold?

Just so happens I read about a very successful trial of microscopic gold spheres that were too small to get caught in normal capillaries but would get caught in the capillaries that feed tumors.

Once the spheres had been deposited in the tumor the doctors would shoot the patients with radio waves that cause the gold spheres to heat up and literally cook the tumor.

The great part about this treatment is that it has no possible side effects because gold is totally non-toxic and after treatment the tumor is dead and would be absorbed by the body.

Unfortunately I have read nothing further about this research. This treatment should work against most cancers.

Clove oil, tea tree oil, oil of oregano and garlic oil all can be very useful. Clove is probably the gentlest. Tea tree oil is a great one but the odor can only be compared to camphor on steroids, lol. Oil of oregano and garlic oil both are very strong and can cause reddening and peeling on their own, so a light touch is very much in order, tread carefully with those.

With larger tumors, necrosis setting in can put a patient into crisis, that’s another thing I recall from having my Lab treated. There’s such a thing as being too successful too quickly, in killing a tumor. Halt metastasis then reduce the mass at a rate the body can absorb, was the objective.

Thank you RC. I really appreciate this information! (and will be filing it away). Hopefully I’ll not need any of it but you know as well as I do when a tooth throws a ‘fit’, it very seldom goes away completely. Anyway I appreciate all this info!

Ping....

Recall, people used to eat off of silver or silver plated tableware...at least thosewho could afford it, and picked up trace amounts of silver in their diets as a result.

I wonder if this had any effects on viral resistance and incidence of cancer?

Mayapple, that’s it. Etoposide is the name of the chemo agent made from it.

If you do end up trying one of them, just remember to ease into it, they’re stronger than you’d suspect. Tea tree oil is not for internal use at all, topical only, it’s toxic if ingested. The others can have unpleasant effects if ingested, so read up on them beforehand so you get the benefit and not more than you bargained for. If you’re just putting it on a tooth and spitting it out, they all should be OK in moderation with the exception of tea tree oil. I know people who use it orally but I wouldn’t, myself. Self-medication, even with herbal preparations and oils, isn’t something to take lightly. You can harm yourself, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

IMO, a colloidal silver generator, along with the knowledge of how to make and use different strengths, is a must have for preppers.

Sorry if this is a duplicate, I got a 502 error the first try.

Sorry about your pup. Sounds like you gave him a great life right to the end.

The chemo and radiation definitely work together. The combo leaves the cancer cells without a chance to reproduce and spread, as long as it’s early.

Surviving the onslaught of system-wide and overall muscle, blood, and tissue cell destruction is the hard part, but it can and does work. But during treatment I was sure there was no way I would survive it.

If only they could target the cancer and not every inch of the whole body. I guess that is the focus of much cancer research today.
