Missouri teen describes killing as 'pretty enjoyable' experience (Then Went to Church)

A U.S. teenager who admitted stabbing, strangling and slitting the throat of a young neighbor girl wrote in her journal on the night of the killing that it was an "ahmazing" and "pretty enjoyable" experience -- then headed off to church with a laugh.

The words written by Alyssa Bustamante were read aloud in court Monday as part of a sentencing hearing to determine whether she should get life in prison or something less for the October 2009 murder of her neighbor, 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten, in Missouri.

Bustamante, 18, sat silently as law enforcement officers, attorneys and forensics experts read aloud the thoughts she had recorded as a 15-year-old.

A handwriting expert described how he was able to see through the blue ink that Bustamante had used in an attempt to cover up her original journal entry on the night of Elizabeth's murder. He read the entry aloud:

"I just f------ killed someone. I strangled them and slit their throat and stabbed them now they're dead. I don't know how to feel atm. It was ahmazing. As soon as you get over the 'ohmygawd I can't do this' feeling, it's pretty enjoyable. I'm kinda nervous and shaky though right now. Kay, I gotta go to church now...lol."

One wonders what creates a soulless monster like this.

But long before the alleged murder, Alyssa Bustamante's home life was full of emotional torment, according to court records and friends, who say that Bustamante, 15, was mostly raised by her grandparents while her mother struggled with substance abuse and her father was in jail.

Alyssa Bustamante's grandmother, Karen Brooke, became the girl's legal guardian when she was 7-years-old, according to court records obtained by the Jefferson City News Tribune. She also took on responsibility for Alyssa's two younger brothers, the paper said.

Meanwhile, Alyssa Bustamante's mother, Michelle Bustamante, struggled to pay rent and racked up three misdemeanor criminal convictions, including one for drunken driving and another for marijuana possession, according to court records obtained by the paper.

Her father, 34-year-old Ceaser Bustamante, whose identity was confirmed by the Cole County Sheriff's Dept., is serving three concurrent prison terms for three counts of felony assault in Missouri Eastern Correctional Facility, according to a spokesperson for the Missouri Dept. of Corrections.

Jennifer Meyer, a friend of Alyssa Bustamante's since middle school, told reporters, that Alyssa's father had been arrested for "stabbing someone." Local police have not yet confirmed that.

Irrelevent.

Does Missouri not have the death penalty? Was she charged as an adult or juvenile?

A little clarity in terminology.

In general use, the term psychopath implies that an individual is naturally unable to experience empathy with others. However, it is a spectrum condition.

A normal person must have some ability to ignore empathy and sympathy of others, at least part of the time, just to function. On the other extreme is utter indifference to others, animals and humans equal to inanimate objects.

Most psychopaths are able to function normally in society, as they have developed alternative means to prevent their own anti-social behavior. Such people may be highly respected for their abilities, such as surgeons who understand that they must hurt to heal.

They are also often seen as superior leaders.

The word sociopath was created to distinguish a person who is born a psychopath from a normal person who has been trained, indoctrinated, or traumatized into performing acts without empathy or sympathy. It was most commonly seen during wartime, where soldiers were taught to dehumanize their enemy.

Finally, it is important to note that this girl may not be either a clinical psychopath or a sociopath.

Instead she might be a *sadist*, someone who derives pleasure from inflicting pain on others. This is distinct from the other two psychologies, because she is not indifferent to the pain of others, she wants to perceive it, and revel in it.

Bustamante's home life was full of emotional torment

That's just an excuse. There are bad seeds that come from wonderful homes and wonderful people who had horrific homelives.

Liberal uses of the death penalty would curb a lot of this. Murderers should die for their crimes. If people know they’re going to die themselves for doing horrible acts, it would stop a lot of them from doing it.

Gallows at Ft. Smith
Proper protocol was performed at Ft. Smith, Arkansas in the late 19th century: Hymn singing, proper crowd on hand to witness the result of crime, bag over the perp's head to lessen the ghoulish spectacle.

The perp may not have deserved such a quick, painless and dignified ceremony. But it had the appropriate deterrent effect and administered proper justice blended with proper mercy.

And that was what was most important.

Civilization started to go downhill once we became squeamish about it.

Understand that the Bustamante "family" was essentially a product of liberal welfare policies and a liberal judiciary.

These monsters are actually created and maintained by taxpayer money.

"What church does this miscreant go to anyway?"

Mormon.

Specifically, the Jefferson City location of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

Fair Trial.
Conviction.
The Chair.

Not happening...a trial that is. A local case here to me...but the authorities messed up somehow in taking her confession, and it was going to be thrown out....IIRC, they let her plead guilty to 2nd degree murder vice 1st degree..so death penalty was not an option.

“nderstand that the Bustamante “family” was essentially a product of liberal welfare policies and a liberal judiciary.”

Her grandparents had custody of her since a very small child, as the mother was absent and father in prison.

Her grandparents were respected members of the local Mormon Church, where the killer was very active in youth activities.

I doubt going to a Mormon church had anything to do with it. Her father was in jail for stabbing someone. Her mother was a doper. She lived with her grandparents.

She had incredible obstacles. And - IMO - she was just a Natural Born Killer.

Psychosis cannot be cured. You either have to incarcerate them for life or kill them. If this girl gets out she will just kill someone else.
