Fox News Poll: Santorum Surges Nationally After Three-State Sweep By Dana Blanton February 10, 2012
Rick Santorum has surged nationally in the race for the 2012 Republican nomination after his three-state sweep this week, while Mitt Romney has lost ground among GOP primary voters. In addition, most GOP voters say the nomination race isnt over -- someone other than Romney could still win. Thats according to a Fox News poll released Friday.
The new poll was conducted over four nights this week -- Monday through Thursday -- so it provides a unique opportunity to compare Santorums support before and after his wins in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri. And the results are striking.

In interviews conducted on Monday and Tuesday nights -- immediately before the news of his victories -- Santorum received the backing of 17 percent of GOP primary voters. That was well behind Romney (35 percent) and Newt Gingrich (26 percent), and slightly ahead of Ron Paul (14 percent).
In interviews conducted on Wednesday and Thursday nights -- after his wins -- Santorums support nearly doubled, which put him tied at the top with Romney for those two days at 30 percent. Thats an increase of 13 percentage points. Over the last two nights, Romney also received 30 percent, a drop of 5 points. Gingrich came in at 16 percent, down 10 points. Pauls support held steady at 15 percent.
Looking at the results from all four nights of this weeks interviewing, Romney retains his frontrunner spot with 33 percent, followed by Santorum at 23 percent, Gingrich at 22 percent and Paul at 15 percent.

You are a deep thinker my friend. You offer a solution very similar to the one God commanded to Joshua. Of course he slipped up a bit.
I keep seeing Longshanks pop up on these threads, you are not him. :)
If you heard Newt at CPAC, he said to cut taxes and shrink the government down to the size of the revenues instead of trying to raise taxes or run deficits to match high spending.
And now you know “the rest of the story”.
I hope it's not too late. He should have been talking about cutting government earlier instead of stuff like going to Mars. I wonder if he or his staff have been on FR where we've been "shouting out" Gingrich along these lines.

I heard Newt’s speech...didn’t believe a word of it, and the mono-tone professor eventually bored me to sleep before he finished. He’ll promise the moon if he thinks it will get him elected....oops he already did that.
“Yes, it is sad, but the guy who never lost an election, and has been re-elected Governor of Texas 3 times, is sadly no longer in the race, and we have what we have.”
Bears repeating. Plus, he’s a great guy.
“the GOP FRONTRUNNER”
Doesn’t matter right now. Might not even matter later. Kind of like Citizen Herman Cain. Everyone was going nuts about him. Jump on that Cain Train!!! Send that money!! Santorum will not be the nominee. To think the country will put another novice, in office like they did Obama, who doesn’t have a day of leadership experience, is absurd. Being a leader and shouting out what you would do as a leader are two different things. That’s not saying he’s not a nice guy and a good Catholic, and a good Conservative, and likeable, and all that. He’s only now making a name for himself and later he’ll have to duke it out with Rubio once the citizenship issue is settled by the Supreme Court.
Please continue to infer estimate him!

You might try shilling for Buddy Roemer — he’s the only guy left in the race with executive experience other than Romney.
I’m guessing you are crediting Newt Gingrich for being the “leader” of the house. But the Speaker of the house is not an executive leadership position. He doesn’t have a cabinet, he doesn’t have implementation organizations, he certainly has no experience running a government organization. Sure, it’s better than nothing, but only barely.
And Santorum had “leadership” positions, just smaller. Of course, you might as well say that I have leadership experience, because I was a senior patrol leader once, and also once was the president of a student religious organization.
There is simply no comparison between being the leader of a legislative branch, and being the executive of a city, state, or country. A mayor has more executive responsibilities than the speaker of the house does.
I gave up worrying about executive experience when Perry was gone.
“I gave up worrying about executive experience when Perry was gone.”
Actually, that’s exactly when I gave up shilling for anyone. The best is gone. The rest can’t shine his boots. The only thing that matters now is local...and judges and Congress.
I’m not “crediting” Gingrich with anything. “Senior Patrol Leader” counts. :)
> “Take a look at who Santorum went up against in Pa. defending his seat and how it all happened. Do you even know or care?...Dem party had it out for him and they won. They are scared of him....”
So, you are saying that the Demoncrats won’t have “it out for him” this time so he can win this time. OK, anything you say.
Newt has a strong comprehensive plan to rein in the size and scope of government from day one. Does Santorum?
Newt has a much better plan than Santorum. However Newt has much more baggage which will be exploited by the Billion dollar Obama attack fund. If Romney was able to destroy Newt in Iowa & FL with just $20 million, imagine what 1000 million dollars (1 Billion) will do.
My concern is for taming the government beast. Neither Romney nor Santorum will do it. I believe Gingrich could. Defeating Obama isn’t my goal. Defeating the DC establisment elite is. I’ll not vote Republican if my vote changes nothing.
I think you may have me confused with someone else. I'm leaning Santorum. I will vote Newt if he's leading when the primary finally comes to PA. I refuse to take part in the tear down Newt/Rick party. The way I see it, one of them needs to be the nominee.
