I’ll grant you that some, perhaps many, in the military might make anti-American choices to fire on American citizens, however, have to believe that the codes, traditions and spirit of Americanism still animates many more.
No doubt, too, the BO is doing everything in his power to subvert and destroy the cohesion and meaning of military service. Not only him, but several generations of RATs and bureaucrats that have relentlessly diluted our national purposes in military service. Today, for example, I understand that we have scattered our troops to over 200 places around the globe. National security? I doubt it. Policing the world? You bet.
Even supposed ‘conservatives’ have downgraded the purposes of our Constitutional forces. You may recall Rumsfeld trying to revolutionize our military and eliminate, in so far as possible, the grunt - the common soldier - in favor of increasingly professional troops increasingly dedicated to their handlers (to read the remarks of some SO types) and not the Constitution and the people they are sworn to protect.
Yes, things ain’t what they used to be in our military but I think we’ve got some way to go before killing Americans is one more duty willingly embraced by the mind and body of our military forces. In fact, I’m damn glad we’ve had a major bump in military people cycling into the civilian populace - as it was intended. I’m quite sure that BO don’t like them folks one little bit. No sir.
People kept asking that same question in 1937 and 1938. They found out, in 1945, when George S. Patton showed up.
When the people cut the red stars out of their Romanian flags (a freedom symbol if I ever saw one) and Ceaucescu sent the army to crush them, the army turned on him, and it was Ceaucescu and his termagant wife who faced the firing squad instead. (Ceaucescu's wife died with her mouth open, bellowing orders at her executioners. Makes you wonder who the "hard guys" in politics really are!)

I’m so sick of that ‘lone wold’ crap. I was thinking about contacting my local paper and asking them to report on ALL the psychological statuses of criminals. I want to read, “ the perp was popular with his friends and led an active late night bar and club type life - he was never drunk enough, never rich enough and loved high school reunions.”
A “ lone wolf” can have all the attributes you mentioned. All he/she did was act alone in the completion of their mission. That is why it is so hard to predetermine a perp if the act is carried out by one person alone. I would imagine most professional hit men fit into this category.
I had just finished reading the Time magazine article on introverts (shy people) and was thinking ‘loner’ - not ‘lone wolf’. You’re right - big difference. I wish my comment had been made at 2 am so I could claim sleep deprivation... but nope - that wasn’t the case. Thanks for the correction. :)
