Valentine's Day destroyed by climate change?
Los Angeles Times ^ | February 10, 2012 | By Dean Kuipers

Posted on 02/11/2012 9:18:16 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

... A new mini-report from the environmental group Climate Nexus points out that climate change is poised to wreck Valentine’s Day, or at least change it significantly, by threatening chocolate production.

That’s right. Global warming is very bad for chocolate.

Research from the International Center for Tropical Agriculture found last year that as temperatures rise, the principal growing regions for cocoa could shrink.

Other elements of the Climate Nexus report say similar changes are already affecting the best sugar cane areas of the world, and are partially responsible for a 30% decrease in sugar production in Indonesia in 2011. Also, the 2011 U.S. pecan and peanut crops took a hit from crazy weather.

Global warming is caused by elections.

That’s right, when an election is right around the corner, libs find much more AGW evidence, causing media articles, causing another ‘rat demographic, the AGW non-deniers, to get riled up to vote the right (ie: wrong) way.

It’s going on with Women (free contraceptives), and mortgage holders (mortgage handouts), and... every group they can get their hands on for votes is getting something. Same with AGWers, as they get new evidence to consume and be enthusiastic to vote rat.

Oh, please. Cacao has always been a sensitive and unreliable crop, making futures a near necessity for growers, and a gamble for everyone else in the market.

Rich South Americans call fluctuations in cocoa “clearing out the shoe clerks” because small investors can easily lose everything.

Valentine’s Day has also been soiled by the following:

1. Certain militant feminists have started calling it V Day, with the V standing for violence against women. They want to call attention to that.

2. Certain women’s groups have said that the V stands for vagina, as they have made it an annual tradition to perform “The Vagina Monologues” on college campuses on Valentine’s Day. Reason being, to educate college girls about the vagina? Not sure why they do this.

3. Gay activists try to get marriage licenses on Valentine’s Day to celebrate their love, then get pissed off for the TV cameras when they are denied licenses for couples of the same sex.

We’re a long way from celebrating the love and romance of Valentine’s Days past.

Why does the left have to take over established celebrations to make political statements?

Because, in my opinion, at the core of the movement afoot in the country, is the determination to bring down a society, which is partly accomplished by destroying its icons (Washington was a slave owner; Jefferson screwed his slaves, etc), and ruining its traditions (Washington’s birthday, Lincoln’s birthday, turning Thanksgiving into a national day of mourning, etc).

Gays, for the most part, are being used as pawns - loud, willing pawns - in the effort. And it’s working. See, too, Occupy, ANSWER, etc.

I'm confused...

Research from the International Center for Tropical Agriculture found last year that as temperatures rise, the principal growing regions for cocoa could shrink.

I found that, then I found this (below):

More heavy snow fell on the Balkans and in Italy, while the Danube river, already closed to shipping for hundreds of kilometres (miles) because of thick ice, froze over in Bulgaria for the first time in 27 years.

What I'm confused about is isn't Europe on PLANET EARTH?? Where's the GLO-BULL WARMING in Europe??

Agreed, but what impresses me is that you seem to understand the difference between cacao and cocoa.

Keep on HIDING THE DECLINE. That seems the only strategy the SOCIALIST DEMOCRAT PROPAGANDA MACHINE has left. Since the election of obama the american people stopped just reading the headlines from the MSM. It ain’t going to be pretty for the socialist democrats in the elections come November.

Oh, global warming is causing cold weather in Europe. There was a thread here last week. Ypu see, so much arctic sea ice has melted, that the atmosphere was exposed to more cold ocean...and voila, cold weather in Europe. Of course, in order to believe this, you have to accept the fact tjat ocean water is colder than ocean ice....but with enough reitraining, anything is possible.

That may be true, but it COULD start up again at any time. As the article points out, "as temperatures rise, the principal growing regions for cocoa could shrink."

We must immediately return to Paleolithic "lifestyles" to prevent this from happening.

It's what they do. See Gramsci's Long March through our cultural institutions. See "Cultural Marxism," if I remember correctly.
