EDITORIAL: Obama’s free abortion pills (Obama forces religious organizations to give abortions)
washington times ^ | 2/10/2012 | staff

Posted on 02/13/2012 5:07:12 AM PST by tobyhill

Someone should tell President Obama there’s no such thing as a free abortion pill. The White House is trying to douse a political wildfire sparked by an Obamacare mandate forcing religiously affiliated institutions to provide a full range of contraception measures for employees - including pills that induce abortions. Catholic and other religious leaders with principled objections cried foul, citing promises that they and their affiliates would be covered by a “conscience waiver” for any provisions of the law that created this kind of moral dilemma. On Friday Mr. Obama proposed a new rule whereby the onus would be on the insurance companies who cover the employees to reach out with cost-free contraceptives.

It was typical of the administration to make the proposed deal a giveaway program. Mr. Obama seems to be saying that if you don’t see who is paying for the abortion pills then no one is. “Religious organizations won’t have to pay for these services,” he said. But of course they will. Insurance companies may be required by law to provide these services at no cost to the recipient, but costs are still involved. Employers will still be directly subsidizing the birth control plan. It was a classic Obama compromise; he gets 100 percent of what he wants and the other side gets a lecture about fairness.

Never have we had a president who held such contempt and scorn for the citizens of this country. Each and every American that voted or will vote for this scum should bow their heads in shame.

There is no “right” to contraceptives, sterilization, or abortifacients!

This is simply a wedge on the path to Obama’s pronouncement,
“That’s the problem with private insurance, too many restrictions!”
“That’s why we need government run healthcare, so we have “fair healthcare for everybody”.

THEN we will see BLOCKED ACCESS TO TESTING AND TREATMENT!!!

It doesn’t matter who is paying for it. It is STILL a plan that offers abortion and pre-abortion medications. The administration is attempting to obfuscate that fact.

And Obama is forcing this plan to be offered by religious institutions who vehemently protest those sins.

The Church wants to offer a plan that does NOT include access to sinful procedures and drugs in any capacity.

Is that hard to understand?

There’s no right to 90% of what the Liberal idiots in DC are pushing on the American public. A “right” as ensconced in the Bill of Rights is defined as something extant that cannot be taken or given by anyone or anything. The right to freely express oneself, to freely associate, to defend oneself; those are rights given to us by God that cannot be usurped no matter what government tries to pull.

The “right” to a house or a car or Internet is patently ridiculous. There’s nothing in the annals of human history that’s ever proved that humans require shelter or transportation or *snicker* communication media. Those were things that we, as humans, had to seek and find on our own.

Can you imagine if the cavemen tried this shit? “Ugg has right to cave. Ugg stand here until cave given him.”

Needless to say:

*Ugg dies in the cold*

Aside from the religious aspect of this (which is huge), has anyone looked into the possible quid-pro-quo with the Obama Admin / HSS and Big Pharma? Ya know if the GOP had any kind of mandate that forced an entities to cover the cost of products produced by drug companies, the Dems would be screeching that the GOP is in bed with “evil Big Pharma”

In addition to the issue of religious freedom, if I were in the GOP, I would pose the question to everyone, who is really in bed with Big Pharma?

The left uses the poor as an excuse to take over our lives and ensure control and power.

very well put!

Obama’s outright dishonesty and cynicism never ceases to amaze me. Many of these non-profits ‘self insure’ meaning that they pay for their employees health care themselves and just use a third party administrator to handle the claims and premiums that the employees pay.

So Obama is telling these Catholic nonprofits that they really are not paying for the abortion pills, because they will get the money back when their employees use them and reduce birth/pregnancy related costs.

I will be sorely disappointed if this scam works for Obama.

... abortion and pre-abortion medications.

No offense intended, but "abortion medications" is a contradiction in terms.

Cordially

So far, most people are missing the main point. While the furor over religion vs. state rages on, the fact Obama/President HAS NO RIGHT TO MANDATE ANYTHING, whether to religious entities, insurance companies--nothing. He cannot go around like a tin pot dictator, stating what will and will not be done per our lives, churches, companies.

Yet he is doing so. Where are the GOPers with enough mental clarity and the anatomical equipment to stand up to this whiney, petulant, egotistic would be emperor?

There was a time when man made his own decisions, was practically self-sufficient, definitely self-reliant,

and a part of society by CHOICE,
not by necessity or compulsion.

This man was called an “American”.

From my understanding, the text of 0bamacare includes a clause that requires all approved insurance programs to spend at least one dollar of every premium on abortion.

There is only one reason to require this nominal amount -
to make EVERYONE complicit.

They know, viscerally, that abortion is murder of the most innocent, but they don’t want to be standing alone before the Judge with this stain on their hands.

“See, they all paid for it, too!”

I will be sorely disappointed if this scam works for Obama.

will be ??? itll work as designed and i also questioned the 'self insured' angle the other day...its unspoken but too obvious...

also, the black and white of BC pills is never debated, as theyre designed to prevent a fertilized egg to attach, not to prevent the fertilization in the first place...peel away that onion and most wimmin dont even realize that they are potentially, continually 'killing' embryos every month...and quite honestly, i didnt really consider this argument until recently myself...

everything about the left and bambam are built on lies, deceptions and sleight of hand...

the clueless eat this sh!t up and come back for more, everytime, until they are the aforementioned embryo thats lined up next to a ditch...

id give odds that the privacy of the voting booth will allow most of the outrage over this to be glossed over as the cost of doing business...with the father of lies...

Just to be clear, I did say “pre-abortion medications” and not “abortion medications”.

But, I’m willing to listen. Explain what you’re thinking, if you don’t mind, and I expect we agree but are dealing with my unclear writing.

This latest nobamination should surprise no one. Didn’t this fool (nobama) strongly support sucking the brains out of living children so as to kill them? He was/is a strong proponent of so-called “partial birth abortion.”

I agree. And I’m totally convinced that Obammunism wants to define religion as “worship only” and to separate from it any religious ministries that are just as much a part of that religion. They want religion to be candles, music, speaking, in a ‘religious building’. That’s ALL they want it to be.

But we know that Christianity is also Good Samaritan, Feeding the Thousands, Widow and Orphan Ministry, etc., etc., etc.

Obammunism MUST have control of all that they see as “social services” and religious ministries stand in their way of being seen as the only Big Brother with a handout.

"A one-size-fits-all government mandated health care system necessarily will impinge on the rights of any religious denomination. No cleverly crafted, politically motivated tweaking of the rules will change that. Catholics will still be paying for abortion pills, like it or not."

The Author nails the problem. Not only will Catholics (and the rest of us be paying for Abortions), but with it will go the Freedom of Religion. Freedom of Religion to be replaced by the Religion of Atheists.

I could see that argument coming from the very start of this "kerfluffle" (as Rush called it).
