Fewer Americans received health insurance from their employer in 2011, continuing a trend that has seen the figure decline over the past three years.

According to Gallup, 44.6 percent of Americans received health insurance from an employer in 2011, compared with 45.8 percent in 2010. In 2008, 49.2 percent of Americans received their insurance from their employer.

Meanwhile, the number of Americans without any insurance has increased, climbing to 17.1 percent this year, compared with 14.8 percent in 2008.

That was the point of Obamanationcare to begin with. It had nothing to do with affordable healthcare. It had everything to do with socialism and forcing everyone to become dependent on the government (there were still a few of us holdouts left).

Simple Cause and effect. The Negative impact of Obamacare is causing INsurance premiums to skyrocket and causing employers to shed the extra cost by just dropping coverage all together. So, people lose their insurance and because premiums are increasing so much they cannot afford to pay for coverage themselves.

There is one other dirty little secret to Obamacare that nobody mentions — the penalties for not having insurance, both to employers and individuals will be MUCH MUCH LOWER than the premiums will cost! Thus employers will see a cost benefit in dropping coverage and paying the fine, and people will choose to pay the fine instead of getting coverage - and the rolls of uninsured will skyrocket as a result! And of course the leftists will scratch their heads and lower brains (IE arse) and wonder what went wrong.

Not unexpected, just that many more that will get sucked into Bambicare. And Bambi will campaign on it unless the SC tells him otherwise.

It's not only driving businesses away from Health Insurance Benefits for their employees, the employees are obviously not going out there to get it on their own because Obamacare is massively driving up the cost.

These businesses are obviously going to take the $2,000 fine per employee than to be out of pocket $6,000 a year to supply insurance to the employee.

I guarantee half the US companies will pay the fine rather than the insurance. If I had a company, I too would choose the fine rather than the insurance because it only makes better business sense.

by design

public option means employers can dump employees from plans that cost the company money... shrinking the number of people being covered by private insurance... driving up costs to the remaining insurance clients... speeding up the rate at which they get dumped onto the public plan

obvious pattern

of course, it must be the evil businesses fault

/reality-check

we really need to start calling these people stupid when they propose plans with obviously detrimental effects

This result is no accident.

Obamacare is 100% about working as many “reforms” as possible that will - each “reform” on its own - chase as many people as possible into the hands of Federal government subsidized/provided health insurance.

Exactly. What you said. Anyone who thinks 0bamacare had anything to do with quality/cost/access related to health care is naive or ignorant.

Yes, the penalty is less than the cost of the insurance so yes, lots of employers will drop coverage and many young people will take the same option.

Once the traditional companies are out of business the feds can raise the penalties and your only option will be the feds - single payer system. Tah-Dah! Of course, there will be credits for low-income citizens, thus 100% coverage and we’ll be paying for it. ;-(

Don’t think for a minute that big MBS bank backers and equity bailout holders are sitting still and “going out of business.” They are, and will be the big government insurance contractors/carriers under this scheme.

Just find out who is the carrier for your state employee for example.

This is just the beginning of Arbeitsziehungslager, and it’s MOVING mandates.

And don’t be surprised to see them push for MOVING thresholds under this insidious system, to force those under the mandate to really buy their “insurance” (government investments in the propt market), under orders, at whatever price they fix.
