Was anyone watching just now? Two women tried to jump in the ring just as they got the dogs in, were grabbed and screaming. Kudos to great security.
They were ushered out quickly. Morons. I love the doberman.
Did they wish to participate in the contest ?
They’re protesting DOGS now?
Just saw that. Saw a flash of what looked like a Code Pink shirt.
Saw it. They had signs but did not get them unfurled for the TV. I loved seeing the guys in tuxedos jump up and go into action to throw them out.
Dobies my fave also. The protesters didn’t get beyond a few squeals, but you could hear them yelling as they were hauled off. That security was fast.
Also, the crowd cheered when they were hustled out.
Saw it too. Code Pink is probably accurate. Mad cause the BO dog wasn’t chosen.
I’m bettin’ Shepard.
they should just release some of the Rottweilers on the protesters.
Those wern’t women. They were two ugly dogs who were jealous. In other words...Bitc#es. LOL
Pekes always win. Pekes and poodles.
I think there is something wrong with a dog with a flat face, but I had a flat faced cat for years that couldn’t breathe, so I’m biased.
“Theyre protesting DOGS now?”
Dude, these are the “one-percenters” of the American dog world. And they need to pay their fair share!!
Maybe PETA protesting the showing of dogs?
Wow, bitches at a dog show? Now who coulda’ seen that coming?
I saw someone jump up out of their seat and move toward the floor. The crowd started to boo, but attendants moved right in and escorted whoever it was out to the applause of the audience. I told maternal Mineral it was almost an incident.
My favorite is always the Kerry Blue. Good that it won best in group, but a disappointment in that it lost to the living dust mop.
No one on the live thread knew for sure what had happened.
Fastest security I ever saw!
Happy for the little Pek. Really liked the Shepard and Dalmation.
You must not have been on many threads lately....Think it may have been freepers that started the movement.
Do you know of Romney’s mistreatment of the family dog? Quite a tail. ;~)
He’s quite a cad.
Now that was a funny movie!
And look where Jane Lynch is today - promoting gay sex on “Glee” - ain’t Life Grand!
For those who didn’t see it.
The camera zeroed in on the judge, who was against the railing and a set of stairs. Off the corner of the screen, you saw a woman with a sign flash by, followed by a superfast security, with another woman with a sign following, then a group of security.
You heard a thud (they obviously grabbed them just as they were going over the rail or close to it) and a small scream of rage or hurt. They pulled them back and hauled them back up the steps, the the crowd started booing them big time.
The announcer ignored it. But you did hear a faint yelling in the background as they were hauled off.
I knew about Romney’s maltreatment of his dog - that’s a major character flaw in my book.
(And I don’t buy the crap about The Usurper being good to it’s dog either.)
This particular video was only uploaded today, the 14th a few hours ago, so I thought it was something relatively new.
That was great.
NYT had an article in it today mentioning that the group “Dogs against Romeny” had picketed outside and passed out materials telling the story IIRC. It was posted on FR so you might want to do a search.
Right, and for a host of (un)reasons. Since they think dogs are people too, the legal possibilities are endless.
(it’s late - I can’t LOL - I’ll wake the dog)
PETA, OWS, or Westboro Baptist?
What was going on with the Sheppard he looked aroused.
I saw it but didn’t know what was going on.
Wrong terrier. Now if you’d said Airedale I’d agree with you. I might give you a pass with a Cairn also.
Which ring did they try to invade?
Don’t know if these 2 were part of it, but there were anti Romney protests because of him carting his dog on the roof of his car several years back. hehehehe... people can be weird!
I assume the women did not jump in the ring during the pit bull competition.
Right before the champion was picked, two PETA members were stopped by security as they tried to reach the center ring, drawing boos from the crowd. A few years ago, two protesters from PETA disrupted the presentation.( http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/D/DOG_SHOW?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2012-02-15-00-33-59 )
Who it was or whom ever they were the movement was toward the show floor. The staff at the show must have been on the lookout for such things because they reacted very fast.
Ther is a lunatic fringe of animal “rightists” who consider owning animals as pets slavery, and for work or competition downright abuse.
All brachycephalic breeds suffer to one degree or another yet when a judge puts up an especially deformed specimen, all the breeders rush to emulate the exaggerated deformity.
It’s all about “looks” and “winning”.
“Extremism” is rewarded in all breeds, now.
Form follows function...period.
I know of no “function” that requires a suffocating dog.
A good friend has a bunch of Pugs [rescues] who keep her up every night, one or more of them needing Benadryl, decongestant nose drops, support for collapsed tracheas and/or palates or manual airway cleaning *just* to survive another night.
The intentional deformation of a dog breed just so it’s “so cute” sickens me.
