A Religious War Out of Thin Air
Washington Post ^ | February 15, 2012 | Eugene Robinson

At ease, Christian soldiers. There is no "war on religion," no assault on the Catholic Church. A faith that has endured for thousands of years will survive even Nicki Minaj.

It never occurred to me to evaluate the Grammy Awards show on theological rectitude, but apparently we're supposed to be outraged at the over-the-top "exorcism" Minaj performed Sunday night. The hip-hop diva, who writhed and cavorted amid a riot of religious iconography, is accused of anti-Catholic bigotry -- and seen as an enemy combatant in an escalating "war on religion" being waged by "secular elites," which seems to be used as a synonym for "Democrats."

Seriously? Are we really going to pretend that Christianity is somehow under siege? That the Almighty would have been any more offended Sunday than he was, say, in 2006, when Madonna -- who could sue Minaj for theft of intellectual property -- performed a song during her touring act while being mock-crucified on a mirrored cross? While wearing a crown of thorns? Even at her show in Rome?

The "war on religion" alarmists are just like Minaj and Madonna in one key respect: Lacking a coherent point to make, they go for shock value.

Among the loudest voices, predictably, are those of the Republican presidential candidates. Guess who's to blame for the attack on all God-fearing Americans who go to church every Sunday to hear sermons about the sacrifice and triumph of Jesus Christ. Hint: He got in trouble four years ago, during his presidential campaign, for going to church every Sunday to hear sermons about the sacrifice and triumph of Jesus Christ.

President Obama is indeed waging a war on religion, Mitt Romney claimed last week at the Conservative Political Action Conference. Romney promised to rescind every "Obama regulation" that somehow "attacks our religious..."

But in reality, this is exactly what they want.

theres comes a point in time, when the pieces are arranged in a seemingly advantageous order, and the clock says that the time *must* be now, that muzzcomms put the pedal to the metal...

looks like they figure to martyr a whoooooooole bunch of bleedin hearts and parasites...

Im startin to think that they realized they couldnt get those deer rifles thru the legislatures, so theyll simply take the population reduction fom their own ranks...saves havin to do it themselves against the wall later anyhow...

which group[s] would seem to be that civilian force comparable to the military ???

thanks fer the ping...

Christianity is under attack from Omuslim and the rats.
That’s fact.
And Rick Perry was the first to bring the war on Christianity to the forefront.

The ‘writer’ is a typical dead-soul enabler for the evil that now permeates America. He might even be a foot soldier in little barry bassturd’s war on the Cathoic Church and practicing Catholics. THAT war will divide the cinos from the devout when the ballot boxes are opened, and that is precisely why the marxist potus is waging his war and has enablers like this jerk aiding and abetting the confusion. Stan’s most successful ruse is to cackle that there is no such thung as satan. we are witnessing a version of that drek with this enabler/’writer’.

I couldn’t have picked a better reason to fight.

Thanks, Obastard.

They think they will be able to impose their totalitarian utopia in the aftermath of a CW that they instigate. They might be right, or wrong, but we will not go down without a fight.

I agree, but out of that mess they think they will be the ones instituting martial law by emergency decree, formalizing their communist utopian rule.

We’ve let them get away with the “myth of neutrality” for far too long.

Notice how it’s not a “culture war” when they are shoving their godless humanism down our throats and making us accept it and pay for it,

but it’s only a “culture war” when we resist.

I think part of the problem is the way the GOP selects it’s leaders, they end up choosing spineless mamby-pamby crybabies like Boner.

Not in a nation with a 100 million scoped deer rifles.

That and a few hundred (thousand?) open sighted M-N's. Thanks for the ping!

I think I’ll go with my dad’s old M1 Garand... if it’ll take down a moose, it’ll probably do a good job on a communist at 300 yards.

Yes. Yes, it will. As will mine. No bag limit.

When our front forces are not resisting, does that mean they are not fighting a cultural war, and it becomes our fight???

So I have to ask, not trying to aggitate, but what exactly are the republican fighting???

I see them fighting the grassroots/TEA Partiers, more then the liberal progressives creating this environment and future for us...

Seems to me the moderate republicans (elected officials and elitists) are and have been complicite in the direction this country is heading right now...

No doubt about it. They just want to retain their First Class cabins on the Titanic, and don’t want to hear about icebergs ahead.

Well, no offense, but only a part of me agrees with you on that premise...

Someone who comes into this conversation without hearing the whole story could misconstrue our objections as jealousy to the people who have those first class cabins...

And misconstruing things is a specialty only the democrats and those (elected officials) who can engineer themselves these lifestyles (powerbase) on our votes and tax dollars...

Perception is key, but somehow I am beyond caring too much about what the enablers and have-not liberal/progressives think about me, and others like us...I am prepared to rain on everyones parade, “R” or “D”...And sometimes the “I’s”...

Just kinda throwing out some of my thoughts here...
