Thousands of atheists are expected to attend the Reason Rally next month in Washington, D.C., an event that organizers hope will unify a large part of the secular community.
On March 24, the National Mall will be populated by those who sympathize with atheist perspectives, generally defined by an absence in belief of deities or other religious icons. ...

Atheists In America: We’re Smart And We Want Respect!
Forty of them will show up, the NPS will refuse to provide numbers, the news media will claim that official sources estimated 200,000, and they’ll leave such huge piles of garbage that it will look like 200,000 were there.
If they were confident of their convictions they would just let the rally happen via a series of random events. No design allowed.
for no reason other than pure and simple religious bigotry, spurned by ignorance,
It looks like the DO believe in something....Stupidity and intolerance.
mark
It will be interesting to see how many show up.

Evangelical fundamentalist atheists are on the march!
These people are not non believers, they are anti-believers.
Atheists are the most fearful people I know. Terrified God is real, so work very hard at trying to convince themselves and everyone else He is not true.
Exactly!
“These people are not non-believers, but anti-believers.”
They are not atheists (indifferent toward G-d) but antitheists (hostile and angry toward a G-d they claim doesn’t even exist).
Somebody here wonders why non-belief has become something other than indifference. Fact is, “atheism” is also a religion, complete with zealots & fanatics.
I have been reading an interesting book (Quantum Physics, Near Death Experiences, Eternal Consciousness, Religion, and the Human Soul by William Joseph Bray) which manages to use quantum physics and the last hundred years of QP experimentation to demonstrate the existence of the soul and an infinite human consciousness (created by an infinite G*d). The version that's available on Kindle is an early draft in need of a good spell check and edit, but if you can get past that, the math, and the writer's intentional repetitions it's a very interesting read.
The thesis of the author is that the mathematics and research proving the quantum nature of this universe validates the religious view that consciousness (me, you, our soul) is infinite in nature (the author is himself a Christian, BTW) and only really completely invalidates one religion, that being Atheism. Atheists are stuck in the primitive view that matter is actually solid, Time and Space are limited to what we perceive, consciousness is created in a finite glob of brain matter, and that when we die "that's it". In other words, the rational science they like to tout but do not understand actually contradicts their severely limited view of reality. They are the "Flat Earthers" of the 21st Century.
How funny. They must not be very reasonable. Scientists and reasonable people can reason to the existence of a creator.. Hm. What that creator is like ultimately must depend on revelation but hey, the Catholic Church even talks about faith and reason.
“....he is the best friend to American Liberty, who is most sincere and active in promoting true and undefiled religion, who sets himself with the greatest firmness to bear down profanity and immorality of every kind.Whoever is an avowed enemy to God,I scruple not to call him an enemy to his country...” From a Fast Day Sermon At the College of New Jersey (Princeton) by Rev.John Witherspoon about a month before taking time to serve in Congress Clerics robes and all.
so the enemy of our Country wants to meet in Washington DC I guess they want to rub shoulders with their peers in Congress-or on the supreme Court-or dare I say in the WhiteHouse?
