There's an agenda behind those cookies the Girl Scouts sell, one bent on promoting communism, lesbianism and subverting "traditional American family values," according to an Indiana lawmaker.
That's the reason Rep. Bob Morris, a Republican representing Fort Wayne, insists he won't go along with a resolution meant to honor the Girls Scouts on the organization's 100th anniversary.
Morris owns a chain of nutrition stores, but it's not the fat and sugar in Girl Scout cookies that have him riled up. "After talking to some well-informed constituents, I did a small amount of Web-based research, and what I found is disturbing, Morris wrote Saturday to Republican House colleagues in a letter obtained by the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette. Morris alleged that the Girl Scouts of America and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts "have entered into a close strategic affiliation with Planned Parenthood," which he claimed is trying to "sexualiz(e) young girls through the Girl Scouts."
Even worse, he wrote, only three of the 50 role models promoted by the Girl Scouts have even "a briefly-mentioned religious background."
"All the rest are feminists, lesbians, or Communists," he wrote.

My wife and I have also been concerned about the drift in direction the leadership of the Girl Scouts have taken over recent years...and for the first time in as long as either of us can remember we will not be purchasing their cookies.
Not exactly a pleasant thing to do when you look at their young faces and have to say...”no thank you.”
I agree. Sad. I hate it too.
I was weak....sorry. Thin Mints and Do Si Dos
couldn’t resist. 2 little red haired girls that were so homely they were cute.
They were so excited to be doing it. You could tell this was a big day for them. And too little to know or care about anything other than selling cookies.
I understand your weakness but you do know the majority of cookie profits go the national organization which is then using that money to indoctrinate girls with their leftist, progressive agenda.
Good for Rep. Morris, he told it like it really is. More and more tea party types are going to become less hesitant about speaking out....that’s my prayer.
WOW! Not only that but I heard that the Girl Scouts used water in the cookie mix that was loaded with that evil fluoride!
See Post #9.
I did a lookup on the issue, read a few articles in media websites...leftists are out in full force on this to criticize, ridicule, isolate and marginalize this man for his stance.
I can even see some of those people here on Free Republic.
From Alinsky’s Rules #13 and 5...Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it, and “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”
Explain your stance on the issue, if you would be so kind.
Sexualize. Lesbianize. Pervert in all ways while denying.
Morris is an idiot.
I’m fairly conservative, but I’m not going to waste my time supporting fools.
Murderers often hide behind children. Being adult means not thinking like a child.
Enjoy your cookies.
He may well be an idiot, I presume you are more familiar with him than I am.
But even though idiots are often wrong, they may not always be so.
Would you be willing to share your views on why you think he is an idiot?
I really get upset with people that take an issue to the extreme. If you don’t agree with the idea of selling cookies then you won’t buy one single thing for sale anywhere since just about any major organization has one or two issues that we don’t agree with. The GS’s have done a magnificent effort for young girls especially those that come from marginal households.
I used the “fluoride in water” as an example for an issue that seems to bring out the type of people that upset me.
I’ve known this for years!
I understand your view. I think that this is different for many people.
Another poster referenced murderers hiding behind children. I wouldn’t frame it in those terms.
The more I read about this, the more I was reminded of a counter-protest I took part in outside Arlington National Cemetery, and the people on the other side were the Westboro Baptist people.
They had a cute little blonde girl with them who was holding an unspeakable sign, she looked to be perhaps five or six. (I would post a picture I took of her, because I couldn’t believe it, but I cannot find it)
The point is, if that little girl was selling cookies to support the Westboro Baptists, nobody would criticize anyone for refusing to buy them.
I maintain that is because those behind that little girl are straight up and forward with their message, having the little girls hold signs proclaiming just exactly what the unsavory message the cookies support really is.
There is no doubt the Girl Scouts go to great lengths to hide their connections, even scrubbing websites to remove those incriminating things.
In my opinion, what many people feel who are upset about this is simply that the Girl Scouts don’t have their charges (the girls) holding the same clearly spelled out signs as high and as seemingly unashamedly as the Westboro Baptists, but they think the underlying organizational goals are just as unsavory. I think that is what many people feel at a more basic level...and it hurts. It is well known fact that Leftists see children as tools, and this compounds their anger.
