BREMERTON, Wash. -- Medics are treating a third grader who was shot at Armin Jahr Elementary School.
The incident unfolded at the school, located at 800 Dibb St., at approximately 1:30 p.m. The 8-year-old girl, who was shot in the stomach, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. She was alert and conscious at the time.
"I ask my friends to pray for her," said Cindy Kocer, the injured girl's grandmother. "She'll be 9 in a couple of weeks."
Investigators believe a third grader brought the firearm to school on Wednesday, and shot another student. The weapon has been recovered, and a student has been detained.

Prayers up for this little angel.
Obviously the liberals’ fault because they haven’t succeeded in confiscating all handguns yet. C’mon, man!
Thanks for the explanation. Now I completely understand how the liberals are responsible for this particular shooting. Thanks again!
Liberals/Socialists have been fervently casting God out of the schools; busily slobbering over their sacred “separation of church and state” for many years now.
So, like the gentleman He is, He has bowed out. - So, God forbid the Ten Commandments, including Thou Shalt Not Kill, might be taught in the schools. . but, those kids just must be taught Sex Education and how to perform early on.
Guns were present in large numbers in our homes when I was a kid in the 1950’s; but they were controlled by our fathers and we didn’t get hold of them to bring them to school. Sexual predators were scarce as hen’s teeth, any so inclined knew our fathers were fresh out of combat in WWII and would defend their kids. We were taught the difference between right and wrong, said grace before lunch at school, and a little bit of Bible wasn’t an occasion for apoplexy in parents.
So parents should expect more of the same?
If I were still in school and wanted to get out of a presentation or something I would definitely do the five-digit handgun thing beforehand. I'm sure it would work every time.
Prayers for the young girl.
I join in earnest prayer for the children and loved ones!
BTTT
Yeah - I was going to paste the same quote! Pretty odd. Prayers up for this little girl. She had some surgery and was out to her room in critical condition. But more surgery is planned. They said the bullet went through her arm and then into her body.
And the last news report I heard was that the school is backing off of it being an accident. Although if it was indeed inside of a pack, it sure seems like an accident. I sure hope so. I would hope to think a kid that age would not think of shooting another kid. (Well, not like ANY age is a good age to think about it). Although if all the kid knew about guns was from movies and video games, perhaps he didn’t fully understand the whole shooting and death thing.
Me - I shot my first squirrel in about the fourth grade. Cried like a baby. But was ready for more the next day!
Prayers up for both kids. One, because she has been shot and needs healing. The other, because any time a kid thinks they need to shoot a third grader, they need God even more.
Prayers for this little girl, and the little boy. Prayers for both of their families.
Update on her condition and more news.
The girl is on a ventilator, but was taken off a few times and spoke with her family. They stopped the bleeding (she was close to dieing). Bullet is lodged in muscles near the spine and will require more surgeries.
Little boy had threatened running away. (Hey - just like I did so many times when I was that age!) He had taken the gun (an H&K, .45 caliber!) from his mom’s house, belonged to the mom’s boyfriend. Slammed the backpack on his desk and the gun discharged.
Sounds like the boy lives with an Uncle, and visits the mom. His dad was at the press conference with the Uncle.
Tragic all around; continued prayers for the girl’s recovery. Thank you for the update.
Sorry to hear about the squirrel.
I wonder if we’ll ever really know what happened.
Oh, I know what happened. We ate it. ;)
Oh, if you’re wondering about what happened at the school, I posted a more recent article up thread a few.
