Romney speech falls flat in Detroit

Mitt Romney spoke to several empty seats Friday in Detroit, in a speech that offered Democrats more fodder for their attacks and failed to deliver the major economic address his campaign promised.

Television cameras showed rows of empty chairs as Romney rehashed many of the policies and quips he'd used in previous speeches, made a few jokes that appeared to fall flat with the audience and said that his wife, Ann, drives "a couple of Cadillacs," which will likely give Democrats more ammunition for their depiction of him as rich and out of touch.

The former Massachusetts governor also repeated a line that has been the butt of jokes by late-night comedians — that Michigan has good-sized trees.

“This feels good, being back in Michigan,” he said. “The trees are the right height. The streets are just right.”The former Massachusetts governor also repeated a line that has been the butt of jokes by late-night comedians — that Michigan has good-sized trees.

Hey everyone. He is up in the polls today from his stellar debate performance. The establishment said so and they can’t be wrong. Can they?

Can someone repost the picture of the empty stadium? It’s just such a beautiful sight.

Do you notice how when the likes of Rasmussen or Sabato talk about how well Rombo is doing or that Rick is history...they appear to be severely constipated?

What a giant pile of pandering bullshit. Excuse the language, but that one needs to be spelled out.

See you on Tuesday, Mitt. Hopefully giving a concession speech after I vote for Rick Santorum.

Were both remaining residents of Detroit present for the speech?

It was not several empty seats. It was several tens of thousands at Ford Field.

Robert M. La Follette, Sr., a popular Midwestern liberal, gave such a speech early 1912 and never recovered politically to run for president that year. But he came back in 1924 to win only his own WI, then died the next year. Some twenty years after that, Joe McCarthy unseated La Follette, Jr., for the Republican senatorial nomination. And WI has been apologizing ever since.

Governor Romney doesn’t need to fill a stadium in Detroit. People in MI may think he is their former governor instead of his father, George W. Romney.

My good Lady, I have been a Rick fan before it was cool. Just ask around. For over a year I have had to listen to the charges that he is nothing but a Bible thumping nit wit that has no chance in wining this. Unfortunately for them, he is wining this. Keep the faith.

” - - - Mitt Romney spoke to several empty seats Friday in Detroit - - - “ or EMPTY SUIT TALKS TO EMPTY SEATS

” - - - and failed to deliver the major economic address his campaign promised.” or .

( Sometimes you just have to recognize that some Candidates are hard-wired to self destruct. )

BTW, just what IS Romney’s main issue in this Primary Campaign? He says “I know how to do it.” Maybe he forgot how to do “ it ?”

And how did your precious “Brain Freeze Guy” from TX work out for you for POTUS?

Pissing contest between deceased Romney Sr. and Rick Perry, both three term governors generations apart?

Ease up.

It looked like there were more demonstrators outside than people sitting inside that 50,000+ stadium. When he said wife’s 2 cadillacs, all I could think of was the $10,000 bet he proposed. Somebody should put the family in a little house and provide them with about $2,000 to live on for the month, including the house payment. Then he might actually be able to campaign somewhat effectively.

Santorum or Paul or Gingrich should grab onto the snippet about his wife driving a couple of cadillacs...priceless stuff there for an ad to run over the weekend.

What a dink
