President Barack Obama says there is no easy answer to the problem of rising energy prices and he's dismissing Republican solutions as little more than gimmicks.
"We know there's no silver bullet that will bring down gas prices or reduce our dependence on foreign oil overnight," Obama said Saturday in his weekly radio and Internet address. "But what we can do is get our priorities straight and make a sustained, serious effort to tackle this problem."
Oil prices are approaching last year's highs as tensions increase over Iran's nuclear program. The rise pushed gasoline prices Friday to a national average of $3.65 a gallon, the highest ever for this time of year. A spike in gas prices is normal in spring, but it came earlier than usual this year in large part because of world fears that the growing confrontation with Iran will crimp oil supplies. Iran is the world's third-largest crude supplier.

Hey, Barack, old boy, come scrape some scum off my pond. But watch out for those snapping turtles. Your skinny ass would just about make a meal for them.
When Obama tells the public there are no easy answers he’s really telling us that he’s an incompetent who’s not up to the job
The one thing that never gets talked about is coal gasification because coal has turned into a dirty word.
There are no easy answers - that he is willing to apply.
The easy answers are all right there, just repeal practically every piece of legislation that was passed between January, 2009 and December, 2010. None of it had any sort of participation by Republicans anyway, at least in the drafting and review part.
Shut down the proliferation of administrative orders and reverse or repeal most of the regulations imposed by EPA, Energy Department, and Health and Human Services since January 2007, regardless of whether they had George W. Bush’s signature on them or not.
Actually provide sonme REAL transparency in the workings of government for the benefit of the American public.
Obama is full of it on this issue, and others.
I guess he’s technically correct, that there is no silver bullet solution to the problem.
But to say that because there is no silver bullet solution, that this means Republicans are politicizing our energy issues is horse blank on the part of the president, and he should be called out on it.
And we’ve heard liberals say over the years, “well, it takes ‘X’ number of years to develop oil fields in Alaska”. The liberals don’t realize that if we had started development years ago, that these oil fields would be producing now. The liberals imply that because it can take years to get oil fields to full production, that it doesn’t make sense to do anything at all. Really????
I also want to call out the liberals on their opposition to nuclear energy. Nuclear produces zero of the greehouse gases the liberals warn us about. Yet liberals oppose nuclear because of their fears of meltdowns and nuclear waste.
Let me help....Get your sorry a$$ out of the whitehouse!
“gimmicks” = algae
“Obama incompetent”
On so many levels, on so many issues. You know what? Barack Obama is nothing more than a “third world” low level moron. It never has made sense to me that such a stupendous crackhead queer could become president of this nation. It will someday be written that BHO was the primary pawn in the greatest conspiratorial act in the history of mankind. And I mean this in the most sincere way imaginable.
The XL pipeline could be bringing Canadian crude to US refineries within perhaps two years with concerted effort and that pipeline could also serve as a conduit for oil from Western North Dakota. These are known and oil producing areas so the pipeline would be filled as soon as it is built. Efforts have been underway to build a new refinery near Elk Point, SD and while state permits have been given there are still environmental nitpickers trying to block its construction. Imagine the effects on US gas prices especially in the Midwest with the building of the first new refinery in 30+ years.
Republicans proved how easy it is to lower pump prices when they were last this high. Let Islam know that we will produce our own energy, to the total exclusion of their energy. By energy, I mean oil, lots of oil exploration, production and development.
one word. algae.
1) Wipe out the stupid patchwork of ‘clean air’ laws that cause multiple formulations of gasoline.
2) Remove federal excise taxes from gasoline.
3) Exempt gasoline from state sales taxes.
There, now it's $3.00 a gallon... But really, that's just temporary, even with all of that, it'll likely still climb back up to $4.00 a gallon.
The reason? Because you're spending nearly 15% of the GDP in debt. That's devaluing the dollar at a constant rate right now. It's not as dramatic, as the rest of the world is just about as screwed up, but it is the inflation that comes from devaluation.
So, here's the REAL answer on how to lower the prices at the pump...
1) Slash the deficit spending.
2) Kill Obamacare.
3) End subsidies and requirements for ‘alternative’ fuels
4) Approve the Keystone pipeline
5) Open up offshore and oilsands fuel exploration
Without the first two, though, all you're going to get is the same thing from removing the taxes - a temporary reprieve before prices go up again. Unless the constant devaluing of the dollar is ended, it is going to buy less and less.
Yes there is!
KICK THE MUZZY OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE AND PREP WALK HIM STRAIGHT TO LEVENWORTH.
