A laptop stolen from NASA contains the control codes used to command the International Space Station.

The unencrypted laptop stolen last year is among dozens of mobile devices containing sensitive information that have been reported missing from the space agency, an internal investigation has found.

Giving testimony on the space agency's security issues, NASA Inspector General Paul K. Martin told Congress that 48 agency devices were lost or stolen over a two year period.

The mobile devices, which contained personable data, intellectual property, and highly sensitive export-controlled data, were stolen between April 2009 and April 2011, CBS News reported.

Over two years alone NASA was the victim of 5,408 computer security breaches that included unauthorized access to systems or the installation of unauthorized software. The incidents during 2010 and 2011 cost the space agency around $7 million.

Mobile devices such as laptops and USB memory sticks account for about half of all breaches. If it moves, encrypt the darn thing.

Since the Russians are involved, give them all the information about the loss of the laptop and then carefully look away while they apply their traditional 'direct methods' of resolving the issue. ;)

... command codes to CONTROL the International Space Station
If you see a "UFO" dancing around the sky, you'll know what it is.

“Giving testimony on the space agency’s security issues, NASA Inspector General Paul K. Martin told Congress that 48 agency devices were lost or stolen over a two year period. “

Isn’t it odd that it has happened during the reign of hussein? I imagine, if he were questioned, it would be Bush’s fault.

Maybe NASA should be replaced by the USAF on all things space related.

And we should trust NASA with trillions of dollars to embark on a Manned Mars shot or a Moon Base? I think not - no way in hell.

If NASA is run anything like this administration, put all the sensitive information/codes on the laptop and GIVE it to the Russians ... they’ll NEVER figure it out!!

(Even if they figure it out, they won’t believe it!)

Given that NASA is now solely dedicated to preparing
Obama’s 57 States for orbital jihad,
honest appraisal would include (but never will)
that perhaps some of these were given, transferred,
or “lost” with a purpose.

Yup, I have always considered those cute, cuddly codes to be very personable.

Great. Now anybody who sneaks onboard the ISS will be able to control it.
