Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona, announced Thursday that his six-month investigation had found that "probable cause exists indicating that forgery and fraud may have been committed" in the release of President Obama's long-form birth certificate.
The publicity-hungry Arpaio, a strong opponent of illegal immigration who calls himself "America's Toughest Sheriff," said the evidence gathered by his investigators suggests Mr. Obama's birth certificate and selective service registration card are fakes.
"Based on all of the evidence, I cannot in good faith report to you these documents are authentic," Arpaio said at a press conference in Phoenix, adding that his "investigators believe that the long form birth certificate was manufactured electronically and that it did not originate in the paper format as presented by the White House."

Mike Zullo, the lead investigator for Arpaio, on Thursday presented a series of videos that he said showed that the president's documents were likely forgeries. He suggested the investigation showed that Mr. Obama's long-form birth certificate, which was released electronically, "never existed in paper form," and said the evidence had led him to recommend to Arpaio "a full-blown criminal investigation."
Zullo also said his team came to the conclusion that the Hawaii Department of Health and Hawaiian officials "may have intentionally obscured 1961 birth records and procedures" to keep them from being adequately examined.

Perhaps sloppy work trying to get the correct spelling of the hospital... which they still goofed up.
Fifty or sixty years from now, when the whole lamentable truth of this benighted administration has finally come out, historians will shake their heads in disbelief and sane Americans - if there are any at the rate we’re going - will experience nausea at what happened.
If there is any “up side” to this sorry tale, it’s that - just possibly - the US electorate will be more cautious and careful about vetting fraudsters and phonies.
Why would "sloppy work trying to get the correct spelling of the hospital" lead the alleged forger to split up the pre-printed line (which is unchanged in any version of the document) across multiple layers? And what about the other words that are similarly split. If the layers are evidence of intentional forgery (as opposed to artifacts of the scanning/etc process), then why would these anomalies exist? It does not make sense that a person constructing a document from layer would split up individual words (particularly words that are pre-printed on the form that is being forged) across multiple layers.

1. Romney's tax returns: There was a public outcry a few weeks ago for Romney to release his tax returns.
2. Obama's college costs: If we demand that Romney release his tax records, then I say that we should now demand that Obama explain how he paid his way through Occidental in California and Columbia in New York as an undergraduate student, when there is no record that he held a job during his undergraduate days.
3. That is, if Obama was going around describing himself as a "foreign student", then we have the right to know if he received financial aid that only foreign students received.
4. Ayers: It looks like Ayers was more than just the person who lived down the street---as Obama described Ayers during the 2008 presidential campaign---if the person is correct above when he says that he accidentally ran into Obama in the 1980s when Obama was just a short distance from Ayer's parents' home.
5. As I understand it, the man said that in the 1980s, he was the mailman for the Ayers' area, and he accidentally ran into Obama as he continued on his mail route soon after dropping mail off at the Ayers' home.
He described his first encounter with Obama and how they engaged in a pleasant conversation -- the source figured that Obama as a black man in a white upper class neighborhood wanted to talk to 'splain himself why he was walking up to the Ayers' home. Later Mrs Ayers spoke glowingly of Obama and Ayers relations with Obama.
The First Time I Heard Of Barack By Tom Fife
This source identifies himself and seems credible. What he says make a little more sense if the Ayers were truly friends of Obama for years and years. The Soviets had extensive contacts in the U.S.
Mr. Fife was on contract in Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union. There he meet former Soviet officials at least one of whom mentioned Obama and what was planned for him.
I have heard of this "overwhelming evidence" before...and am curious what CBS means by it. Alas, I suppose it is so overwhelming it need not be bothered about and anyone who wonders what they mean must not be "enlightened".
