Chevy Volt Sales Sizzle, Nissan LEAF Cools Off in February 2012

With February now in the history books, US sales of the two most popular electrified vehicles have been tallied.

Nissan reports that sales of the electric LEAF checked in at only 478 units in February 2012. That's below the 676 LEAFs that Nissan reported selling in January 2012, but still seven times more than the 67 LEAFs sold in February 2011, when the market was just getting started.

Sales of the Chevy Volt picked up significantly with General Motors reporting it sold 1,203 units in February 2012. That's nearly double the 603 Volts sold in January 2012, but still a bit below the 1,529 Volts that Chevy sold in December 2011.

LOL!!

BTW, I think I’ve seen one of those out on GM’s proving ground.

Now I understand why.

If you didn’t mind putting in an oil change every time you filled the ank, The Vega wasn’t bad.

My girlfriend had one and it was a pretty sporty car in the cruise.

For you young FReepers out there, you used to be able to parade around town with all your other friends and their cars and race the lights and have a lot of fun. It was called “Cruising”... now banned in most towns.

I never could figure why the towns hated it.

We were never drinking that much beer, two miles out of town and we could have got really stupid.

I think it had to be that we represented a freedom that they did not have when they were our age.

It was a special time. LEO’s chasing us out of parking lots of closed stores, it gave them something to do. Back then it kept them out of the donut shops.

Thanks for bringing back a special time.

I read somewhere that the Chevy Volt is the first car in history to have more units recalled by the manufacturer than have actually been sold.

I guess they just can't move them off the lots with an electric range of less than 30 miles, even with a $7500 bribe from the taxpayer, so Obama wants us to kick in more to expand that bribe to $10,000. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this... After all, given all the $$$ printed by the treasury and bought up by the Fed (now the #1 holder of US debt, more than even China) $10,000 of today's dollars is probably equal to about $7500 from 4 years ago.

The Leaf is merely a street legal electric golf cart. Who wants a car that will leave you stranded when the battery runs down?

Hey! The Leaf is good enough for the FBI! What's the matter? Don't you watch "Fringe?"

I am still disgusted with that illegal act

According to the Obama regime, an "illegal" ain't nothing but a sick bird... But since you mentioned it, expect a visit from the EPA, US Fish & Wildlife, and DHS for "a chat." Hope you don't have a dog.

General Electric just mandated that almost all their fleet sales will be Volts.

The only Volt I’ve seen on the street was painted with the logo of a local electrical contractor. It was clearly a publicity stunt.

There is no rational reason to buy a Volt, since it is uneconomical even with the tax breaks.

I've been visited by the IRS for an audit three times in six years. It's pathetic, but I keep very good books on everything of interest to them, and their audits are (comparatively) painless with the right documentation on my side.
