Tensions raise specter of gas at $5 a gallon

Gasoline for $5 a gallon? The possibility is hardly far-fetched.

With no clear end to tensions with Iran and Syria and rising demand from countries like China, gas prices are already at record highs for the winter months — averaging $4.32 in California and $3.73 a gallon nationally on Wednesday, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report. As summer approaches, demand for gasoline rises, typically pushing prices up around 20 cents a gallon.

And gas prices could rise another 50 cents a gallon or more, analysts say, if the diplomatic and economic standoff over Iran’s nuclear ambitions escalates into military conflict or there is some other major supply disruption.

The MSNBC comments say it all “alan_static: make it $10 gas. I will happily pay it along with my fellow Americans. Maybe we will see there is a better alternative to this driving culture when we all start driving less, walking more, and build some people friendly cities.”

“wtw of KC

There is no doubt we do live in a lucky country. At $3.73- 4.32 / gallon we should be laughing compared to the rest of the world. In Europe they pay almost 3 times more per gallon than us, in Australia around $5.60 and in China $4.10. Europe has learned to live with high gasoline prices and their vehicle fuel consumption reflects it and puts ours to shame. As for Chinese prices, they can afford to keep them lower, we subsidize them with the interest payments on our $ trillion+ debt to them.”

If the liberals want to compare European cities to U.S. cities they should also compare the age and size of those cities.

If 0bama were the leader of any country that is America’s foe, he would be lauded as the one who was able to destroy America properly.

Didn’t Obummer once say that energy costs would necessarily increase if he got his way?

Reduce the value of gasoline by the 12% reduction in fuel milage caused by requiring ethanol, and we are getting closer.

Got to keep the corn prices up!

obama’s worshippers will never believe he’s doing anything to intentionally hurt this country. And that’s almost half of the country.

We are watching the destruction of the greatest nation in the history of mankind.

A summer of a $75 to $100 filled tanks will even wear down the most liberal Democrat.

Think Reagan like voting percentages.
