“SLINGER A 20-year-old man was shot and killed in the Village of Slinger late Friday night. According to police, Bo Morrison broke into a house and the homeowner shot him.”
Alleged? or Fact to the home owner?

...got ahold of...
Typically -- a southern euphemism:
....(1) made contact (with a subject) in person, by CB radio, or netlink phone
....(2) caught said subject by the back of the belt and scruff of the neck /T-shirt inpreparation for "th'owin' their sorry @$$ outta here"...
Y'all cheeseheads & badgers have good 'un...
(...wishing everyone in Wisconsin a wonderful Sunday!)
Considering recent changes to Wisconsin law, anyone who makes a living by burglarizing houses needs to rewrite his business plan and/or consider alternate career paths. It’s getting as dangerous as Texas and Pennsylvania. Personal and business insurance costs for Wisconsin burglars must be prohibitive.
For most burglars and other criminals, however, Maryland is still quite safe, almost as safe as New York. Residents here are not encouraged to own guns and defend themselves. Y’all come! /s
I'm thinking that call was to see what the response time was.
I wonder if the guy came from the party, too drunk to know what house to return to after a beer run, or if he was chasing some girl, or what.
oops no party in the first place
Wow that’s good thinking. I gotta keep that in mind if I ever see a squad car down the street for no good reason in the wee hours — somebody’s planning a burglary.
1 down and more to go!
Seems like the lad was at the wrong place, wrong time and not a burglar. BAC test will likely show he was drunk
Wisconsin Castle Doctrine ping
FReep mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Some people pronounce it “aholt.”
Another midwesternism, of which I heard a lot (alot?) while growing up, is “lookit.”
I assume it’s a midwesternism, because I have never heard a non-midwesterner use it. Enlighten me if you’ve heard it used by people from other regions.
Many years later, it jumped right out at me when I first heard Rush use it.
“shot an intruder in his house” then they say he was on th porch with a single wound to the chest. The story is sketchy at best. If he was shot on the porch and it was not enclosed with a locked door, I agree with you. not really enough detail to be sure.
The alleged intruder was allegedly killed.
“got ahold of” is a phrase long in common, everyday usage in this manner in Wisconsin, and in the part of Minnesota in which I also resided.
Interesting aside: In the video, there is a scene of the home where the shooting took place, and reflected off the window can be seen a POW/MIA flag.
Well, he was way too drunk to be moving around if he thought he was in his own house. Last week there was a story about a single-car accident with two drunks in the car and the less seriously injured person couldn’t remember if she was driving or not.
How about "I'm going by the lake" or "It's cooler by the lake"? Even the weather readers on the local TV channels use "by" instead of "near". This might be more localized as there is a sub-dialect known here as "Milwaukee talk".
