Rick Santorum may not have the endorsement of politicians like Gov. Bill Haslam or U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, but his conservative credentials spoke loudly to average voters in Tennessee, who gave him the win in the presidential primary Tuesday.
With 90 percent of precincts reporting, Santorum had 37 percent to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romneys 28 percent, despite endorsements from a number of key state leaders. In Hamilton County, with 100 percent of precincts reporting, Santorum took 31 percent of the vote while Romney took 29 percent.
Tennessee voters are traditional conservatives who support constitutional, limited government, fiscal conservatism and traditional social values, said Mark West, head of the Hamilton County Tea Party, who supported Santorum. We see a conservative candidate in Rick Santorum who has fought for conservative values without apology for his entire career.
Local voters praised Santorum for what they called his values-based conservative consistency.
Santorum is the best man of what we have to vote for, said Dakota Johnson, SNIP I like that hes for a strong military and doesnt what to take funds away from it.
Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich fell short in Tennessee, but still picked up 25 percent of the vote after a last-minute campaign sprint through Kingsport, Knoxville and Chattanooga.
SNIP
Local Democrats took aim at Romneys loss in Tennessee, giving it more weight than Santorums win.
Mitt Romneys loss tonight shows that he is out of touch with Tennesseans and it raises serious concerns about his chances in November if he can make it to the general election, said Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Chip Forrester.
Romney has committed only minimal campaign time and dollars toward Tennessee, making his first public appearance in the state at a rally Sunday in Knoxville.

Sorry it couldnt have been Newt...
But still...
It seems Romney has to spend millions to buy a few delegates and win a state..
I didn’t vote for him, but I consider it better than a Romney win.
Tennesseans chose wisely today. After winning only 2 states, Newt needs to do the right thing and endorse Santorum.
I need to remind everyone that many of the “not-Romney” voters today were actually voters FOR Romney four years ago, when he was the “not-McCain”. How soon we forget. In our desire for purity, we will get Obama reelected. Shame on us.
Four years ago RomneyObamaCare was not an issue.
Good job, but it seems they all have crowned romney.
Shirley you jest!
Just kidding.
Newt is nowhere near defeating Romney; at least Santorum has a chance. If Newt dropped out Romney would be toast.
I love it when Romney loses. :-)
Our good conservative candidates do NOT need to "drop out". We need to work together!

GREAT PIC BUMP!!
Now, Let’s get one in Color!
According to TheGreenPapers.com, in Tennessee Santorum gets 25 delegates. Romney gets 10, and Newt gets 8. There are another 15 listed as “available”.
What color is the sky in your world ? Are you that desperate for a Slick Willard nomination ?
Stupid enough to realize a guy who has won only TWO states isn’t going to win the nomination. Keep up with this nonsense, and you’re going to hand Willard the nomination on a silver platter, pal. Maybe that’s precisely what you want.
Come and say it to my face, numbnuts.
