Columbus, Ohio (CNN) -- Mitt Romney won six Super Tuesday states including the big prize of Ohio, while Rick Santorum took three states and Newt Gingrich grabbed a vital triumph in Georgia, CNN projected.

Romney was projected early Wednesday to win Alaska's caucuses, the last to tally votes among the 10 states with delegates up for grabs.

It’s “Super Tuesday,” only Romney and Gingrich can emerge to challenge Obama

I couldn’t believe TN and OK went with Rick since he voted against right to work and is pro union. People are not paying attention. Newt wasn’t too far behind in those 2 states. It is a shame the votes are being divided. Something needs to change our direction. We have 2 weak candidates at the top Imo. I hope Palin and Newt work out a ticket. I am getting bored with Mitt and Rick.

I voted for Newt in Ohio but, at this point, it seems pretty obvious who the nominee is going to be.

May I ask ...why did you vote for Newt in Ohio, when you could clearly see Santorum had the momentum going in?

Didn’t you think perhaps you’d help out the conservative cause by NOT voting Gingrich. Folks like you ensured that Santorum lost. Would have really put a damper on Romney had it gone that way.

Not that there’s NOT a damper on now.

I’m just curious.

Oh, don’t give up hope. Long way to go still. Conservatives can STILL put it out of their butts, but they need to UNITE.

I’ll say it again, conservatives, unite or forget it.

Careful, 3 Months ago you weren’t even allowed to say stuff like that on FR. I don’t know if it’s ok now or not, but I don’t think it is.

My first thought is this: How many of these “wins” will turn out in a few weeks as “not wins” just like in several other states where the vote count was close.

I early voted for Newt a month ago actually. I had to work yesterday/tonight actually. getting ready to go clock out now actually. Voting for me is further complicated because my voting district is 75 miles away from the house where I’m currently living so I do it early to make sure it gets done. Plus, I honestly like Newt.

Romney is just A nominee, not THE nominee. I will proudly vote 3rd party in the general election.

Would have really put a damper on Romney had it gone that way...

...it is amazing, isn’t it...all the Gingrich fans on this forum, who purport to hate Romney so much, utterly fail to see that the best thing that can happen for Mitt is for Newt to stay in the race...that, and their obtuse thought that Gingrich wuld win against Obama, but Romney wouldn’t...no such narrative exists anywhere except here and in the Gingrich household...

Ineligible RINO Backstabber:
"Thank me. When I cheat, I win."

FLASHBACK:

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++4 to 10 pts
in some polls, days prior to Election 2008.
So rather than helping the GOP, Romney and
TeamROMNEY and the RNME (Republican National Media Establishment)
decided …to attack Gov. Palin to throw Election2008.

Romney, and the Van der Sloot RNME RINOs for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

Romney won because of the urban democrat areas in Ohio. Think he could win them against Obama?

And yet Santorum supporters are blind to that very fact. Rick Santorum, of the JV squad, let Captain Newt of Varsity take charge. You’re ruining it for the rest of us.

If Newt gets out and ALL of Romney’s guns are turned on Rick, Rick is going down, period. Having both of them there makes him spend money on two candidates. Quite frankly, that is our only hope right now.
