Obama: Auto rule saves $8k 'a year.' Hmm.
politico ^ | 3/7/12 | GLENN THRUSH

A verbal typo by President Obama at today’s Mt. Holly, N.C. speech, but a self-serving one that warrants a quick correction:

“Now, because of these new standards for cars and trucks, they're going to -- all going to be able to go further and use less fuel every year. And that means pretty soon you’ll be able to fill up your car every two weeks instead of every week -– and, over time, that saves you, a typical family, about $8,000 a year,” Obama said.

“We like that!” shouted an audience member.

“You like that, don't you?” Obama replied.

Except it’s not true.

Wait. To save $8,000 a year would be a savings of $153.85 a week, so since I only spend about $42 a week, where do I pick up my check for the $111.85 weekly.

The idiots haven’t caught on to the fact that they won’t be able to afford a car at all before long.

Kind of ironic that he goes to a German company to campaign for re-election.

He's just preparing for his plan to re-name the Volt the Voltswagon.

Look at the resale of those things! WOW! Talk about THROWING your money away. Buy one that is a few years old for sure.”

You mean the Cayenne? Really bad? See, if it is mine, not the family car, I hang on to them so long, that the resale is not as big a deal...but if it’s horrible, I stay away from them.

In fact, I still have my 95 T-bird 4.6 for a back up car. MY daily driver is a Ford Fusion Sport (which I have had for 2 years and like, but even with the good engine it leaves me feeling the need for speed). When I pull up next to one of the Priii (especially one of the insufferably green Prius owners) in the T-Bird, they get visibly ill.

Lets see. If I drive 16,000 miles a year, and get 20 mpg because of Bush, and I buy a new car and get 40 mpg because of His Green Holiness, and I now use 400 gallons instead of 800 gallons, and thus save 400 gallons of gas, which is 8000 dollars - gas is $20/gallon.

Thank you, Your Green Holiness! You have saved us all!

Where does he get his dollar figures? Does he ever think about the reasonableness of anything he says? Did he ever think about how many gallons of gas you would have to buy to spend $8,000 a year and how many miles you would have to drive?

I have over 275 credit hours in University. About 70% of those hours were chemistry, physics, math, life sciences, biology, botany, geology, pharmacy and a few courses in aviation.

It distresses me greatly to realize that all that study was in vain. Apparently Obama has now overturned the laws of thermodynamics. There is only two ways that the efficiency that he touts are real.

The first way is that the laws of thermodynamics are wrong and that would make Obama one of the greats in the science of thermodynamics.

The second way is that he is a liar and pulled those numbers out of his butt because it sounded good and he has absolutely no idea what he is saying,

Lawyers Legislating Innovation.

His Holiness, Pharaoh Obama should decree that they build Flying Cars that run on Unicorn Farts.

I think Flying Cars are cool and I hear Unicorn Farts smell just like Sandra Fluke's panties after she's had a rough night.

Next up, the $1000 an hour minimum wage so everyone is the One Percent. So it written, so it shall be done.

Does Obama have some super secret Car design plans that will accomplish the made up CAFE numbers?

Politicians pull numbers out of their butts and the rest of us have to comply?

How many Engineers have been elected to Congress or the White House?

CAFE, minimum wage, Income Tax Rates, who lives and who dies under Obamacare, where does it stop?

Just like losing money for “children's health” programs when they raised Cigarette Taxes to fund them.

Now they priced people out of smoking tobacco and the tax receipts collected are much less than they budgeted for.

I know, unexpected. LOL

Just wait until they repeal Newton's Laws of Motion and the Law of Gravity...

Go look at at the price of a new one, then go look at the price of one 2 to 4 years old.
