Rush: Sponsors 'practically begging to come back'
World Net Daily ^ | 3/8/12 | Joe Kovacs

PALM BEACH, Fla. – After national controversy over his calling a Georgetown University law student a “slut” and “prostitute,” radio giant Rush Limbaugh says he has brand-new sponsors lined up to advertise on his program, and some who had canceled are now asking to return.

“We have three brand-new sponsors that will be starting in the next two weeks,” Limbaugh said this afternoon, adding he was not going to identify them today.

Two of the sponsors who have canceled have asked to return. We are being very careful about that. I’m not gonna give you any names here. One of them is practically begging to come back.”

There have been reports among some news agencies that at least 40 advertisers have abandoned Limbaugh’s top-rated program since the furor involving Sandra Fluke’s push for insurance-covered birth control erupted last week, but Limbaugh said those news outlets are not being honest.

“Because they lie, and because they don’t understand how it works,” he said. “Everything is fine on the business side. Everything is cool. There is not a thing to worry about. Whatever you’re seeing on television about this program and sponsors and advertisers is just incorrect.”

A 30 year old slut claims to be 23 goes before Congress...

She never claimed her age.

Also, you should know by now that she did NOT appear before Congress. But I guess you heard only what you wanted to hear....

I have noticed that some advertisers who canceled Rush (such as Sleepnumber) have stepped up their advertising on FOX.

Smarter still is to bait the Left and make them eat each other.

I happen to think that getting the Left all worked up in a frenzy over free birth control and having them stay on that message for weeks, months while gas prices shoot the moon and the economy continues to stagnate or sputter is a great contrast for ALL voters to get their minds around.

We need to provoke Obamala to come out for gay marriage, for legalized dope, to bow before the Iranians and to talk gun control. All of this needs to be provoked by us.

Unfortunately, the fly in this year’s ointment is that Obamacare will be held up as constitutional as a tax under the 16th Amendment and Obamala will rub our faces in it. How the nation reacts I have no clue but I would hope it gets behind Gingrich to lead a genuine debate over the following:

Carbonite is undoubtedly one of the beggars.

Carbonite stock plummets after decision to abandon Limbaugh

In a day and age when young women (not all, but many) call themselves "bitches", slut isn't far away. I let them do their own name calling; sometimes it is more educational to just listen.

Much like that of Richard Pryor's comedy routine. Him and Mel Brooks pulled off a movie no others could have done and gotten away with.

The only thing I have a problem with in thos whole sordid saga is the apology.
If you are a host with a world wide audience, think about your comments before they are uttered. That is what all of this massive “show prep” that Rush brags about spending endless hours on is for. But once you say something, own it. Stand by it no matter what.
If the day comes that it does become necessary to apologize, then apologize for your own actions or words, without dragging anyone else into it. “I was acting like those on the Left” sounded like “ ...but they do it, too!”, coming from a five year old.
See ya, Rush. I’m going back to Andrew Wilcow.

I agree with your post #8 - Rush screwed up. He does not screw up often, but his recent crankiness may lead him into further hot water. But when he does screw up he seems to have to justify how right he was, or misunderstood etc. Like the Donavan McNabb comments that took him off ESPN. He still drags that up to insist the media had it all wrong. When he makes ambiguous comments close to or over the line he cannot fairly claim that someone else took it the wrong way. They can take it however they interpret it. And Rush of all people knows that media will cut him NO slack.

All that does is give them oppertunity to put the barb in deeper. I never understood why the heck he said that about McNabb. It wasn't really what he said but it seemed so out of place. What I mean is I can't imagine a group of men watching a game and one say that. LOL

Well said. I teach in a public high school. Do you know what I have noticed? Girls don't want to be pretty anymore, but instead slutty and provocative. They do not understand the concept of leaving something to the imagination, nor do they understand they power that they retain by doing so.

DEMs had been looking for any conservatives mis-step to use too try and tar conservatives with this election. They found it.

What, you think they are going to stop there? That was just the tip of the iceberg. And by the way, they monitor Rush's show every day and have been doing that for years. Why don't you try doing what he's been doing some 20+ years without ever screwing up?

In the future I suggest Rush lead everyone right up to the cliff, pause and then say ‘you might think that, but I could never say’. Rush listeners will know exactly the idea without Rush using the non PC word. This gets his point across without giving the red meat to the Libs. It will drive Libs crazy since Rush did not say the word and if the Libs try to make an issue out of what Rush did not say, it becomes a case of how dare the Libs put words in someone else’s mouth!

I disagree. Don Imus called a bunch of women "nappy headed hoes". That is a slur and slander. There was no indication that they were "Whores" and maybe their hair was nappy...but by who's standard?

Sandra Fluke described her own actions. In days past...THAT WAS BEING A SLUT. It's a shame that we have gotten to a place in this country where we can't called it like we see it out of fear for political correctness.

And I disagree with what Obama said about her being a private citizen. She ceased being a private citizen when she became an activist and began actively trying to change MY life and the lives of others. The left just wants their hypocrisy left alone.

She misrepresented herself...stepped into the debate with the intentions of not just telling her story...but being an activist. Her actions prove she was a slut...and she is one...by my definition. As a parent...I WOULD NOT BE PROUD.

That said...Rush should have focused more on the dem setup than her person...that was the mistake.

You have pointed out the obvious. You are also ranting about something he has already apologized for. He did that apology on Monday and again Tuesday.

Rush tends to be correct most of the time, but he has his moments. And those moments usually appear pretty bad.

In many ways ...Rush got a wake-up call and I do sincerely hope folks put aside their ‘listener loyalty worship’ and evaluate the sponsors he brings onto his show. As many here are wanting to ignore the very fact that people buy from a sponsor on Rush, keep in mind the organizations that these “sponsors” backed. And that Rush knew it too, as he admitted on Monday.

Yes, buyer beware. Just because a sponsor is on the Rush Limbaugh Show doesn't mean your money isn't ending up in the coffers of the likes of MoveOn.org or that your personal information is as protected as you might think.

I can't stand too listen too him 20 minutes much like I couldn't stand Orielly or a number of others that long either. Even my parents who had listened to him for years stopped listening to him about 5-7 years ago. But that's beside the point. He needed a producer to screen his program and run it on a 5-20 second delay like many shows do for that exact purpose and live callers. It would have saved him a lot of problems had someone hit the switch for him. They could have went to break and hashed it out.
