Environmental extremism overrides everything else, including the positive economic impact of the pipeline.
Obama is beholden to the enviro-radicals, who want solar, wind, biofuels, and God knows what else pie in the sky energy plans. To them, we have to get away from fossil fuels. So there’s no reasoning with such people. It doesn’t matter that this pipeline has great benefits. Because fossil fuels are evil, per these liberals, this pipeline had to die.

Warren Buffett stands to benefit BINGO!
BNR has over 1000 miles of RR in Montana/ND. To move 750,000 BPD, requires 1,200 to 1,500 RR cars (capacity varies) per day.
This is a huge factor.

Far more important to the nations energy and environmental future is the development of renewable and alternative energy sources. This is the winning case that Mr. Obama should make to voters in rejecting the Republicans craven indulgence of Big Oil. Except that Big Oil, whatever the frig the Times wants to say about it, DELIVERS THE GOODS. What is there to show for the billions in taxpayer dollars thrown at all the "winning" renewable energy companies like Solyndra? They produced nothing but executive bonuses.

I thought the fluking Kenyan said that there was nothing he could do to help lower the price of gas. Well, today he did something to make sure the cost keeps going up. And yet, the blithering idiots infesting this country love the hell out of him.

We know too that Obama majority shareholder Warren Buffett stands to benefit from any agreement to scuttle the pipeline because Buffetts railroad will end up carting any Canadian heavy if Canada decides to sell oil to US refineries despite the Keystone ban. The continued restriction of pipeline capacity is about the only way Obama can slow development of the Bakken/Three Forks oil in North Dakota, too. Pipeline capacity has been a problem since the earlier wells were drilled in Montana in 2000, and is even more of a problem now. Buffet saw the trend, and unit trains are heading south with crude oil from North Dakota now because there simply isn't the pipeline cpacity to carry it. Some of that oil was going to be shipped via the Keystone Pipeline.

The difference is NONE of the so called 11 opened their mouths up and separated themselves from the Obama administration’s move to block the pipeline as this was going on but were instead in lockstept with it.

You think it was a coincidence that Obama told Reid and Pelosi, just the day before, he would not be contributing to their campaign coffers? Bet ya they're getting the money now, along with all the others who went against it. I'll bet ya that's what he told them in the phone calls he made.

the Democrats presumably prefer the new triangle-slavery route. Canada ships oil to China, China creates jobs, US imports dollars from China to pay for entitlement programs to support people who dont have jobs here domestically. Of COURSE they do!
It keeps our economy down while inflating the economies of other countries thus keeping their dream of one day being the 'elite' ruling class of a one world government alive.
On the other hand, it's not nice to try to fool the Laws of Nature.
One day, the payback's gonna be a real Bitch.
