People often talk about growing up in a time when they didn't have to lock their doors, when their children could go out and play without fear, and when everyone knew (and talked to) their neighbors. It was a time when groups like the Girl Scouts flourished -- when they were viewed as a wholesome club parents could allow their daughters to join without concern that their little girls would be corrupted by feminists with an agenda. As a matter of fact, parents and their daughters would often learn about the Girl Scouts from their churches.
But times change, and now we lock our doors, we don't let our children out of our sight, and many get their introduction to Girl Scouts from a proud supporter of Planned Parenthood -- like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
It certainly is a paradigm shift.
A watershed moment for the Girl Scouts came in 1993, when they amended their "promise" so as to omit the word "God." Since then, there has been a slow but steady slide that has landed the organization in the not-so-loving arms of Planned Parenthood, and the feminists and hard-left politicians whom Planned Parenthood attracts. Indiana State Representative Rob Morris (R-Ft. Wayne) sounded a clarion call on these matters last month, when he noticed that out of fifty role models the Girl Scouts currently provide for their members, "[o]nly three have a briefly mentioned religious background -- all the rest are feminists, lesbians, or communists."
Morris went so far as to refer to the Girl Scouts as the "tactical arm" of Planned Parenthood.

I’ve been aware of this for a while. It really infuriates me that they use ingenuous children to drum up money for PP. The children do not understand, and are too young for me to try to explain, why I cannot in good conscience purchase their product. Innocent pawns, cynically deployed.
The GS and their Mothers were out in droves last weekend hanging out in front of Stores with their cookies. I never gave them a glance. Most of the Mothers are probably clueless, others aren’t, and have no problem using their kids as Pawns.

I assume the ‘them’ you mean is the organization. I really can’t tell some prepubescent child that I am rejecting her fundraising effort because it helps to promote, advance and execute abortions. I just walk on by.
It depends om the age of the girls....and HOW you share this. Usually, I would simply say... “Ohhh I’m so sorry but I can’t buy these cookies anymore.”....and then direct the *why explanation* to the older girls or parent(s) with them.
It is THEY who will ultimately have the most influence on the organization.
I haven't bought their cookies for years because of this affiliation with these bloody butchers and because they've pretty well dropped all reference to my God of the Judeo Christian Bible.

Golly gee! Why, I remember way back when when the Scouts, Boy and Girl, knew the word God meant the God of the Judeo-Christian Bible. So when did all this crap start? So, now a tin-can or a tree or a dust bunny can be God to the GSA! They've come a long way!

Next time you see a group of litle girls selling cookies to raise money for their troop, stop and and ask them to say the GS Promise for you
And as they do, notice that they will hold up the GS sign, 3 fingers:
One for serving God and Country
One for helping others
And one for living by the GS Law
And you are aware that Robert Baden-Powell established Boy Scouting as an international faith-based organization in many non-Judeao Christian countries, right?
And that Boy Scouts (and Girl Guides) use Allah, Buddha and Hindu gods among others, in place of the term “God” in the Scout promise, right?

I just went to the Girl Scout’s official web site and looked up the Girl Scout oath
It still contains the word “God”
Maybe the author of this article has other facts that aren’t correct as well.

I dont know, GS cookies are about the only kind I buy and people are wild for certain kinds, like Thin Mints and Tagalongs. Some line up as soon as we start to unpack.
We send cases of GS cookies to the troops overseas, donate cases and cases to the USO and Operation Homecoming at BWI to hand out to the troops (all purchases with “Gift of Caring” donated money), and many parents buy cases to send to their kids in college
All the donations people dropped in my troop’s tip jar this year, the girls paid for extra cookies and donated them to the local fire station
I think GS Thin Mints are the 5th top selling cookie in the US and only sold 6 months out of the year and only through GS
So, whatever floats your boat for value: a $4 box of cookies or a $2 hershey bar ($3 if you buy it in a movie theater). Or you could just hold out for a $25 tin of chocolate covered Boy Scout popcorn. Mmm.
The fact that you're still promoting Girl Scout cookies makes me believe that you've totally ignored the severe damage being done to the GSA by the bloody baby killers in Planned Predators. I'm surprised you'd even advocate purchasing anything from the GSA. More than likely, you also support Susan Komen even though they have donated millions of dollars to the Planned Predators. If so, I feel very bad for you.
This is old news but needs to be repeated. Girl Scouts is still fairly innocent up to age 8 or 9 when the girls are selling cookies. But any normal person who lets his daughter stay in Girl Scouts past age 10 is crazy.
The Planned Parenthood connection is distressing, but the approval of open lesbians as scoutmasters is the worst of all. Prime hunting grounds for sleazy, butt-ugly women who can't find affection anywhere else.
