As the Republican presidential candidates continue to battle and improvement in the US economy is seen, President Obama is getting better public reviews good news for his re-election bid.
With eight months to go before the presidential election can it really be that long? a lot could go wrong for President Obama.
If Newt Gingrich were to do badly in next Tuesdays primaries in Mississippi and Alabama and call it quits, that would leave Rick Santorum to concentrate his fire on front-runner Mitt Romney who would have to respond, further delaying the point at which he can concentrate fulltime on Obama, return to his inherently moderate self, and hope to look presidential.

>> If Newt Gingrich were to do badly in next Tuesdays primaries in Mississippi and Alabama and call it quits
Ain’t gonna happen. Deal with it.
Actually, the real story here is as the only conservatives in the race pummel each other (Newt and Rick), both Obama and Mitt are smiling.
Obama wants to face Mitt.
He is just salivating at using Mitt’s sordid Progressive Liberal record to destroy him.
This so-called primary (rubber chicken fight) was supposed to be good for us. IMHO, it is the Mother of all Foot Shots. We primaried ourselves right out of the White House. Four more years for Barack the Kenyan Guy.
>> Obama wants to face Mitt.
Mitt or Rick.
Ubama has been preparing to run against Mitty Romney for four years.
He created OWS specifically to run against "Mr. Wall Street," AKA Mitt Romney.
The minute Romney clinches the nomination, we are going to be treated to state-controlled media focusing 24/7 on how rich Mr. Wall Street is and what a weird religion he subscribes to.
Whatever happens in the primary is irrelevant to that.
To say that any GOP candidate who actually tries to win the nomination is being selfish by not bowing out instead of bloodying Mr. Wall Street is delusional.
No, because Republicans actually think and we’re trying to avoid the establishment candidate (Romney) who lost us the election last time (McCain).
But we don’t want a preachy, idea-free, big government Obama-clone (Santorum), either, and I think most of us are beginning to realize that.
And Paul shouldn’t even have been allowed to run in the GOP primaries, because the guy’s a libertarian (which means virtually radical left) and is messing up the race.
It would be like having Randall Terry run for the Dems...but hey, he’s doing that. I hope they like it. Except that they’ll probably nip him in the bud and his candidacy won’t get any further than a few counties in OK. Paul, on the other hand, has messed this thing up since the beginning.
The liberal media are smiling on Barack? Whoda thunk it!
I think we will see Gingrich and Santorum coalesce and most of their collective advocates will come together, making Mitt a has-been. Then we have the Republican ham sandwich that can beat Obama.
Rick would kind of be like waving a cross in a vampire’s face. In the end the vampire looks to be the stupid one.
The media are like mindless parrots with the harping on the Obama advantage because Republican candidates are pounding each other.Newsflash, the general election is not next week. Once the Republicans have a nominee, even if it is 2 months before the general election, all of the diviseness will be forgotten in a millisecond. The American electorate has the memory of a gnat when it comes to such things. It will only take the nominee a few days to put the primary focus back on Obama as the primary issue of the general election campaign.
Unfortunately, I think you are right. I have been telling people to prepare for 4 more years of Obama. I am wondering if we will still have a country in 2016. I hope I am wrong, but I think Obama will win again.
OMG! It’s called a Primary! It happens every 4 years! Candidates running for their party’s nomination sling mud at each other. It’s what they do. I’ve never seen the media make such an issue of this before. All is usually forgotten in the general, but you can be sure the media will drag out even the slightest disparaging remark made by the others to the eventual nominee. Disgusting.
I have, for years, been a very strong advocate of taking a national viewpoint to every congressional and senate race. And I very strongly believe that this is the only way to actually secure the White House for Republicans. We really need a very strong speaker for the House. None of these wishy-washy limp-wristed fat cats, but someone who will take the reigns of the House and really tick off a lot of people.
If that could happen, if there could actually be a campaign to make a real opposition congress, I could possibly put up with voting for Romney. It has to be a conservative opposition that ends this massive deficit spending, that ends the nationalization of mortgages, that ends the nationalization of college loans, that ends the nationalization of companies - that is really prepared to stand up and go up against liberals on either side of the aisle.
I’m with you. Barry owns the government and is now changing and writing the rules of how HIS America is going to be. His “courts” won’t allow Americans to stop voter fraud. He’s using taxpayer (OUR) dollars to buy votes and get himself re-elected. We really don’t stand a chance. IMHO.
Obama don’t car who he will face. He will just follow what the Jewish Mafia leader, David Axelrod, tells him what to do.
“We really need a very strong speaker for the House. None of these wishy-washy limp-wristed fat cats, but someone who will take the reigns of the House and really tick off a lot of people.”
I fully agree with your sentiments. However, taking majority control of the Senate is crucial. We can have a strong conservative Speaker but all his efforts will go to waste if the Senate is still in Dem control. The deficits will continue to mount as the Senate Dems kill off efforts to reduce it.
You are not swayed by polls showing that both Romney and Santorum now lead the Zero?
Nor by polls which register that fully 50% of adults -- and a majority of Independents -- consider Obama's presidency to be a "failure"?
Even when you can see for yourself that there is no way a President with Zero's record could ever even aspire to being re-elected?
Note that these polls are in spite of the conventional Beltway and Media wisdom that Obama is "safe" and an absolute "shoo-in".
Who's wrong, huh? The polls or the "conventional Beltway and Media wisdom"?
Yes, we're talking about Republicans -- who have the unique ability to drop the ball while in the midst of a 60-yd TD run in an open field. But, on the other hand, we're talking about the American people -- who, as a group, are a lot smarter (and wiser) than any five hundred talking heads in D.C.
No reminders of how Hilary and Barry pummeled one another until June of 2008.
Polls , eight months before the election, mean squat.
