if it don’t kill you - it makes you stronger. Calling another guy a liar, is hardly hardball or enough to make a good candidate a loser. As long as 51% of folks think this is a failed president or that gas is over $3.00 you can bet the sitting pres is in trouble.

But, on the other hand, we're talking about the American people -- who, as a group, are a lot smarter (and wiser) than any five hundred talking heads in D.C.

I pray to the Lord you are right. I am just the eternal pessimist. I remember Clinton. I hope you are right. I don't know if we could ever recover from another 4 years of Obama.

The deficits will continue to mount as the Senate Dems kill off efforts to reduce it.

And when we win the Senate, it'll be the White House that is the stumbling block, and when we win the White House, it'll be Jupiter in the house of Aquarius that is suddenly the cause of deficit spending.

Every spending bill originates in the House. The House has enormous power under a strong leader - Look at Nancy Pelosi's shoving through of PelosiCare.

It's time we demand leaders within our party to step up and actually lead. None of this dancing around bipartisanship sellout of every conservative value there is. We've had some brief glimmers of it - over literally pennies of the federal deficit.

Oh, and stop blaming anyone BUT our leadership for the failure to control the spending they were elected to stop at the start of this Congress.

I am appalled at how the Republicans are behaving. There is no maturity, honor or brains among any of them. the people with the highest IQs are usually the ones with the least common sense! If Gingrich had stayed d in his statesman stance with Romney’s dirty tricks, he would still be at the top of his game. I am sick of the lot of them. As it now stands, with both Sasntorum and Gingrich staying in the race, only Romney’s nomination is assured!
There no longer is a Republican Party!

Polls , eight months before the election, mean squat.

True. But they are not without meaning.

Specifically: if the election were held today, they mean both Romney and Santorum would defeat Obama.

Which should give you an indication of how much love the voters have for The One.

Accordingly, it is hardly time to play GOP Establishment and "give up".

Why is vetting a candidate so “un-PC” now? Because it’s the Republicans?

Barry owns the government and is now changing and writing the rules of how HIS America is going to be...

Man! Take it easy!

This thing is long from over, and it's starting to turn our way. People are seeing the boy-king for what he is and even his most vocal supporters are having to rationalize their buts up a tree. So they're howling and snarling and snarking like crazy. A liberal can never be wrong, but a good many will wake up and find themselves no longer liberal. That's how it happened with me. Years ago, I woke up conservative.

Have you ever gotten scabies? I did once. Itched like hell until I finally went to the doc and got some lotion. I put the lotion on, following directions, and I swear the itch was double what it was before! I had to run out in the cold night air to get relief. Somebody explained that, when scabies die they crap their pants or something and that causes you to itch worse, but if you grit your teeth it will eventually get better.

I think that's what's happening to America; the scabies are dying.

I hope you’re right. The voters in this country aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer.

The editor who wrote that headline is mixing the Kool-Aid AND drinking it.

Obama’s unpopularity is massive. People are sick of high gas prices, high unemployment, and low respectablity abroad. The infighting among the Republicans might be good sport to watch, but like the Democrat party in ‘08, we WILL unite. Our desire to fire Obama in 2012 far exceeds the Democrat desire to replace a Republican four years ago.

Face it, people gave the guy a chance. Now they know he SUCKS. Of course WE at FR knew that...we follow this political stuff every day. But Joe Six Pack out there isn’t stupid. He knows this jackass has made things worse, and he won’t forget in November.

Specifically: the election takes place on November 5, the Tampa Convention is in August, and we are March 10. Loooong way to go.

I agree completely. Obama can crow all he wants about the economy, but that's a losing strategy. Too many people are still unemployed, or under-employed, for that to be successful, even with the daily help of the MSM. I also don't think the "I voted for Barack so I can't be racist" voters will feel the need to punch that ticket again.

As it stands right now, Obama is toast. His only real strategy is to hope the GOP nominee slips up.

Of course. But, as of today, the results indicate we are winning.

Why give up?

That was my argument. Are you arguing otherwise?

I think neither Mitt, nor Rick can beat Obama. There are not enough difference between them.

Romneycare=Obamacare.
Gov.Romney pro-choice, anti-gun, pro-gay marriage, pro-taxes and fees in Massachusetts.
Obama - all of the above on national level.

Santorum pro-big government, pro-unions, pro-big spending.
Obama, all of the above.

Neither is capable to unite the Republican voters under their banner. Neither is a good debater. Either of them would lose.

Obama will have plenty of money, the whole media and his position of incumbent. Plus a lot of dirt already prepared in Axelrod’s files.

Jeez, then, why should we even try?

Let's just give up now. And save Obama the trouble.

Such spirit...

Rick could beat him if he picks Newt as V.P. and openly adopts more of Newt’s platform. Mitt is a hopeless case. He’s Obama lite on everything except some economic issues, but it’s looking very doubtful that the economy will be an issue in November after job gains for the last couple months were revised up from the 10s of thousands to the 100s of thousands. We need to run against Obamacare, against food stamps, against wasteful environmental policies, against abortion/gay marriage, against liberal Supreme Court rulings, against cutting the military, against the left-wing approach to government in general and FOR new, big, bold ideas like Newt provides. Rick has the same “nice guy,” trustworthiness appeal that G.W. Bush did. But he would need someone like Cheney and Newt to add intellect, experience and gravitas.

I agree with your #11 posting and will add to those thoughts that if the GOP DOESN’T let their contest continue for several more months (maybe June-Aug), it will only give the Obama machine more time to trash the nominee.

I think the prolonged primary process for the GOP is a plus for that reason and also because Conservatives and others in the GOP will have a firm grasp on whom they wish to cast votes.

Exactly, chuckee!

Conservative Republicans HAVE to win majorities in the House and Senate. ....Then, even if BHO does win re-election, we’ve got him blocked from doing as much damage as he has brought to the US in only 3 years in office.
