US Air Force creates two squadrons to support Obama's re-election campaign tour

The United States Air Force has established two new aircraft squadrons to support the Presidential travel needs during the campaign season.

The 305th and 306th Expeditionary Airlift Squadrons were activated as subordinate units of the 89th Airlift Wing on December 1.

The 305th will operate out of New Castle, DE, with 5 C-130H medium lift transport aircraft, 8 full sets of aircrew, 60 maintenance personnel, and 12 operations personnel are assigned.

The 306th will operate out of Andrews AFB, with 4 C-17 heavy lift transports, 7 full aircrew, 60 maintenance personnel, and 10 operations personnel will be assigned.

Operations for the two squadrons are to commence in April, and will run through the election. The aircraft and personnel will be released back to their original units after Nov. 2.

Is this done for every president in a re-election bid, or just this one?

Is this typical? Anybody know if past presidents running for reelection have had their own AF squadrons?

Didn't the Democrats yell about George W.’s use of Air Force 1 and other federal aircraft? George W. agreed to pay for the part of the travel expenses that were for his reelection. Has Obama paid one cent towards his travel costs?

Just this one. I don’t recall prior presidents needing anything beyond AF1 (and typical support units which includes a transport for the limo, security, etc). It basically looks like Obama is multiplying the usual logistics by three.

...while remaining good stewards of taxpayer funds.

One red cent spent on the current POS President's re-election campaign would be a waste of taxpayer funds.

Definitely should be paid out-of-pocket by the Kenyan Re-election Campaign Committee.

This is a WAR, against the U.S.A. as presently constituted and governed through its Constitution.

The bastard already has the bully pulpit. There is ZERO excuse for him to leave the Whitehouse to campaign.

We could come out cheaper as tax payers, if someone would just figure out how much money bozo is going to raise for the Democrats and just cut them a check, instead of wasting all this fuel, manpower, and tying up businesses and traffic in all the states he is going to.

Our election process is seriously broken and in need of reform and major restrictions on this type of abuse.

More for Dems than Republicans.

My old Reserve unit at Andrews, 756 ARW and its B Model C-141s were run ragged by Clinton & company during his re-election bid. Moving the Secret Service and many, many limos (2 per aircraft) across the US.

One day we went through 3 C-141s before getting a Banner Mission off the ground. Mostly due to last minute add ons and maintenance problems.

Great for budgeting. Lousy for the troops.

The 2012 election will NOT be about the economy. We will be in a war situation and Romney has no foreign or military history. Obama would lose to Romney over the economy, but he is preparing his reputation as the killer of Bin Laden etc. etc. as a military strongman.

Isn’t it obvious? Romney should get Bolton and some military figures on his team. Perhaps as a Veep candidate.

How about Romney just realize he’s in over his head (and there’s barely anyone who wants to vote for him) and resign from the race.

Seriously, he’s the same but, different candidate.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Well, IMNSHO, this clown has been on the campaign trail since 21JAN09 and they are not bringing in the extra ‘air staff’ till Apr.
How can he possibly be in more cities etc than he has already been in? Hmm, maybe they are taking 3rd World tactics and using doubles??? <: <:

The worst thing with this campaign spending, when they get to where they are giving their collective BS Session, they only talk to friendlys.

Isn’t the true meaning of campaigning to expose yourself to those that would normally be inclined to NOT vote for you?

So, in essence, when they take OUR money to campaign with it is basically going to ‘preaching to the choir’.

And that is not only pertaining to BO, I realize when they screen at an event to keep the harassers out it is for expediency but aren’t the dissidents the ones you are trying to win over?

So, bottom line, it is basically a waste of time and MONEY.

Take away the matching funds and make them campaign on what they get from people with a like mind = that they are trying to represent.

There is no reason in the (logical) world that people in California should be ‘donating’ to elect someone to Congress from NY.

In some respects, it is like us picking a country out of the book and donating to one of the candidates for local office.

Why??

Actually it's more like a South American Banana Republic (Haiti, for example, and Michelle Obama does a really credible imitation of Mrs. Baby Doc) or an African tribal dictatorship.

That's all the Kenyan is. Just another tribal Beeg Man, mau-mauing the fools who think he cares about laws.

Until December 2011 Air Expeditionary Wings/Squadrons were ONLY used to support “Overseas Contingency Operations - aka the War on terror.”, This administrative procedure ensured correct accounting of flying hours, manhours and other levels of support and provided a clear line of command and control.

Prior to December 2011 airlift support for Presidential campaigns was taken out of local training accounts.

IMHO, the two newly formed squadrons, while officially under the 89th Wing (VIP support), will report to and be controlled by the Presidential Reelection Committee.

But maybe, in his function as Commander-in-Chief, Obama will directly command all of the missions. Thus adding to his impressive military resume.

And don't forget, Obama will take credit for getting Bin Laden, fixing Israel, Iraq, the economy, etc.

Never assume that against this radical incumbent, that this election is a guaranteed win for our side. In fact the opposite is actually true.

Here is another link about the Sheriff's findings. This is to a video made of the news broadcast summing up the investigation by Sheriff Arpaio of Arizona into the legitimacy of the various documents associated with Obama. It’s long (over an hour) but fascinating. He’s a fake and a phony.

I am flattered that you lifted this post from my blog, word for word, punctuation for punctuation - but it is customary to give credit to the author when you do that sort of thing. If you had copied the whole post, you would have answered those who asked in their comments if George W had the same arrangement for his re-election (yes, he did).

If anyone questions my statements here, my blog post was time stamped Feb. 18th.
