Comments about Obama selling the military aside, I am actually pretty interested to see how this turns out. We got a rather nasty shock from the Indian air force in one of the large joint exercises we had with them a few years ago, losing 90% of engagements. Makes one wonder how well the Russians will do.

Bad idea, we lose enough sensitive information. If I can't fly around Area 51, the Russkies shouldn't either;)

Who wants to bet that Chinese units will also take part? I think so.

Some claim that was on purpose so that we can justify getting more f22 funding.

I honestly burst out laughing! There’s a lot of stuff happening lately that would have been considered ludicrous a decade ago. I am sure the next step will be naval exercises with the Chinese.

Not certain how that would work.

If the F-22 wins, Obama says ‘we don’t need any more’; and if the F-22 loses, he says ‘why build more of an inferior design?’

It wasn’t the f22 they were beating. It was the f16.

Imagine you're the Cowboys and you're playing the Redskins next Sunday.

Do you invite them to your practice to share your playbook with them?

Yeah, I mean, what do you do going into it? Do you try/use your best tactics and moves? If so, yes you learn if they work against potential adversaries. However, they see them and learn too.

Do you sandbag it? Then you really don't learn much - assuming they are not going to show you their best moves/tactics either. Then what's the point?

Or maybe you hit it hard, win by a large margin and deter any future thought of aggression - great! Or maybe you sandbag it and lose, and thus embolden an enemy to try something, resulting in real-world conflict and loss of life - not so good!

I don't really see an upside to this idea.
