“Another presidential candidate had an energy proposal back in 2008 as well. Former Senator Rick Santorum’s ideas, however, went an entirely different direction. Rather than increasing production, his solution was to “reduce US oil appetite” in an article he wrote, titled, “Reducing U.S. oil appetite This is one cause that could be helped by smart mandates and taxing“

And Newt also bought into the oil-appetite reduction baloney as well. Oh wait, let me guess, he already changed his position again. lol.

“Figure out what the country needs” and then do it? We know what the country needs already! That’s our ace-in-the-hole. One of the things Newt said in this interview was, “Far beyond just how do I subsidize your heating oil, how do I make it unnecessary for you to buy as much heating oil? And there are dramatic things we can do in that conversation.” Now, “How do I…?” He means a president, running a campaign, not him.“How do I subsidize your heating oil?” We Republicans are going to talk about subsidizing people’s heating oil now, and we’re going to call that conservatism?

Your man RS did a flip flop more than once. He supported higher taxes; biofuel, MANDATES and the little cars like the volt.

MANDATES? MANDATES? The only person pumping for a mandate was Newton Leroy when he was touting mandated healthcare before he realized he needed to pivot to run for POTUS.

Santorum supported the Volt? How so? The Volt is the by-product of the Wall Street/Auto Bailouts, which Santorum opposed, but Newt SUPPORTED.

If he was such a big government, high taxing lib, then the ACU’s rating basis must be wrong, which means their criteria for judging Newt is also wrong by default then.

Let me guess now, you’re going to next talk about his debt ceiling votes. So let me get this straight. Michele Bachmann is evil because she decided to “stick it to the Vets” as you put it by not voting for debt ceiling, but Rick Santorum, who voted for the debt increase which funded the vets, is evil too. So there’s absolutely no way anybody can come out on top in this argument according to your circular rasoning.

Keep shilling some more and maybe Romney will send you a check.

" What we need is a government mandate! We need to mandate that all cars sold in the United States, starting with the 2010 model year, be “flex-fuel vehicles” – that is, they should be able to run on a blend that is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline (the so-called E85 blend), or even a coal-derived methanol/gas mixture. This mandate would cost a fraction of the new fuel economy standard with the added benefit of saving barrels more oil. Rick Santorum on Ethanol

Yes…that’s right. Santorum’s answer to the energy crisis…was corn. His response was to force car manufacturers to build vehicles that would rely on 85% ethanol…ie, a corn byproduct. (And yes, I’m aware that Gingrich supports ethanol (not mandating it, just exploring it as an option), an issue with which I strongly disagree with him.)

Romney should send Santorum a check for endorsing him for president in the last election. Santorum knew about Romneycare and still endorsed Mitt. He was the shrill shill for Mitt...maybe Mitt will return the favor and give him a position as WhiteHouse chaplain

So who did you vote for in 2008?

McCain? I guess that means I can link you to support for McCain/Feingold, McCain/Kennedy, Cap and Trade, and opposing the Bush Tax cuts.

When Santorum made his endorsement, it was clear the nominee was either going to be Romney or McCain. Few things make Mitt Romney look conservative, but John McCain is one of them.

So where did your vote go in 2008?

If a candidate can’t speak from the heart then he shouldn’t run. A teleprompter is a crutch for a puppet candidate who’s speaking someone else’s line.

The first President to use a teleprompter extensively was Reagan.

It's fun to mock Obama for using a teleprompter, but the truth is that it cuts both ways. Part of a President's job is to give a good prepared speech, and whether it comes from notecards or a teleprompter says nothing about the merits of the speech itself. This is a stylistic attack rather than one of substance.

This is another one of those red herring issues that won't end up helping us in November, because the real issue is what he says, not how he says it. And Santorum's attack that using one is somehow a flaw is just dumb. Sometimes, it makes sense to look like you're not just making it up as you go along.

No, but noticed his stammering, and the expression “you know, folks”, which I despise. The kind of familiarity, which shows disrespect to the audience.

If anybody addressed to me like that, I would reply : “We haven’t guarded the cows together”.

Compared to Newt, he’s such an amateur.

Newt says, “Let me be clear...”

Rick says, “You know, folks...”

Bore ‘em Santorem’ll flop like a fish.

There's a world of difference between Bachmann and Newt on the gas price issue, she had no data-based argument for her under $2 gas and no industry experts she could give the press to back up the "promise." Newt's articulated how he arrived at a $2.50 target.

Newt supports everything but "support" is different from Santorum's push to mandate E-85.
