NEW YORK — Michelle Obama chose an off-the-shoulder Marchesa gown for her duties Wednesday night as hostess at a White House state dinner honoring the British prime minister and his wife, David and Samantha Cameron.

It was a deep shade of teal in a draped, column silhouette.

The designer of the gown, Georgina Chapman, and her husband, movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, were guests at the affair, but they didn't know Mrs. Obama was wearing one of Chapman's designs when they arrived.

"I'm knocked out!" Weinstein said.

that dress would be okay. It’s that hideous necklace that ruins it.

You beat me to it ... I was thinking, with that necklace, now all she needs is one of those tribal tattoos around her arm ...

That necklace would go really nice with a bowl of fruit on her head.

The dress is nice....necklaces are ugly.
Mrs Cameron’s dress is hideous.

Mrs. Cameron is underdressed for an Occasion of State. Her hair is as awfully unstylish as her dress is painfully blah....she looks more like a spinster English nanny brought along for the ride than a Prime Minister's wife.

Michelle's dress is lovely and flatters her imperfect figure.......but it's spoiled, of course by the horse-collar hanging from her neck.

I'll bet the designer cringed when she saw that rope-a-dope necklace worn in conjunction with her gracefully-designed dress.

However, the First Lady's hair and gown styles are perfectly apropos for the occasion.

“And why is she all slumped over?”
Must be the weight of that necklace!

My parents used to have a subscription to National Geographic and her face with the necklaces she has on really look like many of the images I saw in the magazine minus the very expensive designer gown. I am not trying to be silly or mean I am serious.

If I were a head of state meeting Obozo, I'd make darn sure my 'people' told his 'people' ahead of time that I didn't want him to put his hands on me, other than a handshake. Obama has this smarmy way of touching the upper arm with his left hand, or --- as here --- putting his hand on the back of someone. It looks to me like a psychological method of him trying to exhibit dominance over the other person.

You are correct. The woman has zero fashion sense.
Maybe she just views herself as queen.

“”I’m knocked out!” Weinstein said.”

Well, I’m sure anyone would make a stupid statement like that if your brains leaked on the floor and you stepped on them.

If the clown Weinstein were around in Germany in 1936, I’m sure he would’ve insisted to his fellow Jews that Hitler was a person we could work with.

You are correct about the hand placement. BHO always places his hand like this as though he is pushing the person through the door, in middle eastern culture the last person through the door is the most important.

Ooooooh Mooooochelle...bad choice.

The off-the-shoulder style is NOT your friend.

It makes your back look like a linebacker's, your shoulders to slope like a buff masculine man's do (like John Thune's,) your arms to look even longer (if possible) from the front AND from the back, and your posture to look like you completely flunked White Gloves and Party Manners...or that you just don't have a clue as to how to (basically) hold yourself.

And the necklace...those overpowering bulbous casual bubblegum BAUBLES...seriously?

Are you now taking fashion cues from EUNICE? I'm telling Mama! ;-)

Meow an no offense to Marchesa.

Once again, she has pulled the cap sleeves down where they don’t belong, making big pointy lumps over her tiny little boobs. She may be beyond help. Obviously she is not reading our helpful threads! LOL!!
