Santorum And Obama Neck and Neck In Pennsylvania, Poll Shows

Cutting into Mitt Romney's electability argument, Rick Santorum is statistically tied in a head-to-head matchup with President Obama in Pennsylvania. And the former Pennsylvania senator leads the Republican pack in the state.
Obama has 45% to Santorum's 44%, according to a poll released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University. Obama tops Romney 46% to 40%, Gingrich 50% to 37% and Ron Paul 45% to 40%.
Meanwhile, on the heels of a group of establishment Republicans endorsing Romney in Harrisburg this week, former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge declared his support for the former Massachusetts governor Wednesday morning.
Ridge, who served as the nation's first Homeland Security secretary, was an early supporter of presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman. Huntsman, after dropping out, threw his weight behind Romney.
"Having spent most my life in public service, as a soldier, as a congressman, as a governor of Pennsylvania, as a White House official, and as a secretary of Homeland Security, I've met accomplished and strong leaders in my life. Mitt Romney is one of them. He would bring to the presidency an extraordinary set of skills," Ridge said in a statement sent out by the Romney campaign.
Romney can use all the help he can get in Pennsylvania, where the state's former U.S. senator, Santorum, is leading by double digits there ahead of the April 24 primary.
The new poll found Santorum with 36% of registered Republican support and 22% for Romney.
The poll was conducted March 7 through Monday and surveyed 1, 256 registered voters and includes 508 registered Republicans.
Tim Malloy, Quinnipiac pollster, said Santorum's standing among both the Republican electorate and the statewide electorate was "remarkable" given his dramatic ouster from the Senate by...

Quinnipiac University polls are always biased toward the liberal candidate. My guess is Santorum is several percentage points ahead of 0.

Were lucky it is this low. I don’t think Pennsylvania has picked a Republican President since 1988. Rick Santorum is the ONLY Republican with even a chance to win PA.
This is fairly good news. But it’s alarming that Obama is even competitive, given that he’s not popular in Pennsylvania.
That is true. Its run by the left-wing dad of a VERY ROCK SOLID conservative New Jersey Assemblyman, Michael Patrick Carroll.
My guess is were Gingrich to drop out and ROmney get beaten, Santorum would be even farther ahead.
The worst thing about PA is Philly, Pittsburg, and the eastern counties which have been infiltrated by Manhattan Blight - like northern New Jersey.
They keep saying how Santorum shouldn’t be picked because he lost big in 2006, but look at the primaries and this poll.
He's VERY popular in Philadelphia, where the turnout can top 100%.
It shows that in the eternal war between good and evil, it is a battle that will likely never end.

Newt and Santorum are dividing the Tea Party and male vote and this allows Romney to squeak through the breach. A brokered convention with mudslinging and blood on the floor and a media feedfest will be a bonanza for Obama and with about 60 days left for November, we won’t have the time to have a national and co-ordinated strategy against Obama wins. No, absolutely no to a brokered convention.

I can remember a Comptroller’s race in New York State, where Quinniapiac was off by around 15%, and it was 15 points less for the conservative, of course.
Anyway, as we get closer to the General Election, I believe Obama’s numnber will REALLY tank.
Just hope they can control the voter fraud in parts of PA, though.
LA Times reports this because Santorum has PA tied up for the republican primary. Sounds like they’re starting to run scared, which is good.
