Despite the war in Korea Americans considered themselves to be prospering
with average worker earning $3,400 per year,
a college teacher could expect to earn $5,100 per year.

Three out of 5 families owned a car,
2 out of 3 families now had a telephone,
1 in 3 homes had a television.

Average Cost of new house $9.050.00
Average wages per year $3,850.00
Average Cost of a new car $1,700.00

Fast Food restaurants were growing in popularity,

Many more cars in America were now fitted with automatic gearboxes
and gas cost 25 cents per gallon.

the scourge of Polio hit many thousands of families ( 50,000 estimated )

I was in kindergarten and (heaven forbid) walked to school! Just under a mile. No matter what the weather...lol.

I used to walk to school when I first started, too. I had 2 older sisters and we'd walk close to a mile to school. And we spent more time outside than in!

If it hadn’t been a leap year, 3/15/12 would have fallen upon a WEDNESDAY instead of a Thursday.

Wednesday is my MOST unpleasant day of the week.
Thursday is my nicest.

An Arab enters a taxi cab in Dallas, Texas..........

Once he is seated, he asks the cab driver to turn off the radio because he must not hear music as decreed by his religion and, in the time of the prophet, there was no music, especially Western music, which is music of the infidel’s and certainly no radio ........

So the cab driver politely switches off the radio, pulls over to the side of the road, stops the cab, and opens the back door.

The Arab asks him: “What are you doing man?”

The Texan answers: “In the time of the prophet there were no taxis. So get your ass out and wait for a camel.”

You gotta love Texans!

I am flat bushed and ready for the weekend, it's been a busy and wet week.

No big plans, not really into March Madness, but looking forward to baseball season opening soon.

Daughter-girl may even bless me with her presence :=)
