FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale
of our military and our allied military
and the family members of the above.
Honoring those who have served before.

Remember the Good Old Days?
Sock Hops?
Drive-in Movies?
Buddy Holly?
Or other things that made it Fabulous?
You know, before cellphones?
Come on in and share your memories.
Or take a trip back in time.

Tonight we’ll check out 1952.

Despite the war in Korea Americans considered themselves to be prospering
with average worker earning $3,400 per year,
a college teacher could expect to earn $5,100 per year.

Three out of 5 families owned a car,
2 out of 3 families now had a telephone,
1 in 3 homes had a television.

Average Cost of new house $9.050.00
Average wages per year $3,850.00
Average Cost of a new car $1,700.00

Fast Food restaurants were growing in popularity,

Many more cars in America were now fitted with automatic gearboxes
and gas cost 25 cents per gallon.

the scourge of Polio hit many thousands of families ( 50,000 estimated )

Oh.....& in other outstanding news I filled up the Xterra for only $2.89 per gallon! Happy dance!:) *HUGS*

I passed a station today that was $4.179

It is gorgeous here today also...mid 30s, sunny, blue sky and the streets are awash. The next week is supposed to be the same, but nights still in the 20s and down into the teens....freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw, freeze, that.

Thanks, Connie and Kathy! We were all relieved, too, especially her! I don’t think she believes the therapy will be that successful, but we’ll pray it is!

ROFL!

My grocery store built a gas station & I got to use my reward points for a dollar off per gallon. *Score*

Did you get your SUV fixed yet?

No problem. I don't get as many emails since I retired, but that was a good one. ((HUGS))
