FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
Remember the Good Old Days? Sock Hops? Drive-in Movies? Buddy Holly? Or other things that made it Fabulous? You know, before cellphones? Come on in and share your memories. Or take a trip back in time.
Tonight well check out 1952. Despite the war in Korea Americans considered themselves to be prospering with average worker earning $3,400 per year, a college teacher could expect to earn $5,100 per year.
Three out of 5 families owned a car, 2 out of 3 families now had a telephone, 1 in 3 homes had a television. Average Cost of new house $9.050.00 Average wages per year $3,850.00 Average Cost of a new car $1,700.00 Fast Food restaurants were growing in popularity, Many more cars in America were now fitted with automatic gearboxes and gas cost 25 cents per gallon. the scourge of Polio hit many thousands of families ( 50,000 estimated )
Number One Hit March 9 May 10 1952 ~ Kay Starr - Wheel of Fortune ~ (click graphic) Arrowhead was born
Remember, the Canteen is a family friendly place. We welcome the military, our allies, and their families. Continued prayers for the success and completion of your mission. Prayers for your safe return home.

Good evening, Mooch, and Gut Shabbes.
You use a good word...”innocence”. I like it. There was something new each day, things to look forward to, things that came with each new age.
I too miss that.

I didn't start school until 1954 and didn't have to walk, it was too far away. But did have to stand outside on the road waiting for the school bus no matter what the weather. That was when I was in upstate NY.
When we were in California, it was the same drill but I was older then and chose to hike to school and catch up with Townie friends. It was only two miles.
Wasn't always that way, just in few spots. We were Navy Brats and lived in many locations, moving every six months or so.

I had cortisone shots and did my exercises and it healed itself. Doc said they will sometimes do that so I was very lucky!

Thank goodness you were here to let him come aboard. I have this terrible vision of Conor hanging on to the deck by his nails!!!;-}

Most have never learned the work ethics we were taught. I know some who could never keep a job longer than a few months as they either knew more than the boss or just couldn’t make it to work on time!

Good evening, Taz...((HUGS))...has your weather improved? No more tornadoes?
We’ve never had so much....I hope it melts before next winter. 132” is the record and we may be breaking that record in the next week. I’m tired of shoveling. My street is only one car wide now. The garbage truck pulled into a driveway yesterday morning so I get out.
