Apparently, the problem is calling attention to the fact (again) that this President is a crook, a commie thug, and is fully agreeable with declaring martial law in order to facilitate the intentions of his handlers. This marine is nothing to the president, or the pentagon, and his career and/or life are trivial in comparison to the wants of our thief-in-chief.

Are Marines not allowed to have an opinion?

The oath I signed in 1961 (RM2 (E5) USN reenlistment) is as follows:
I,__________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the United States of America; that I will serve them honestly and faithfully against all their enemies whomsoever; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. And I do further swear (or affirm) that all statements made by me as now given in this record are correct.

Pretty general as to what orders to be followed as the oath suggests ALL but refers you to regs and UCMJ where the ‘legal/illegal’ aspect of orders are (kind of) spelled out - Naturally happening as to how the Convening Authority ‘reads it’.

This is preceded by other ‘instructions’ etc. including staying after war is declared and ALLOWING ‘them’ to innoculate at will AND oblige oneself to obey and be subject to laws in effect or may hereafter be enacted by the Congress of the United States...etc...

Probably just as well I didn’t read this before signing, but at the time it wouldn’t have made any difference anyway...ha..

When you are in the military - you have to follow orders and give the respect to your superiors that their positions deserve.

In English Common Law, a subject MUST give loyalty and allegiance to the Sovreign [even a usurper]:

" ... though there be an usurper of the crown, yet it is treason for any subject, while the usurper is in full possession of the sovereignty, to practice any thing against his crown and dignity. Wherefore, although the true prince regain the sovereignty, yet such attempts against the usurper (unless in defence or aid of the rightful king) have been afterwards punished with death; because of the breach of that temporary allegiance, which was due to him as king de facto.

And upon this footing, after Edward IV recovered the crown, which had been long detained from his house by the line of Lancaster, treasons committed against Henry VI were capitally punished, though Henry had been declared an usurper by parliament ..."

When I was in the Air Force, I was taught to:

"Respect the office - if not the man"

This Marine is entitled to his opinions, but it is NOT his right to question what are currently held to be lawful orders - nor is he entitled to publicly question them while he is in service to his country.

If he felt so strongly about it, and did not wish to face possible punishment, he should have waited until he was out of the service.

I admire his courage and good luck to him - but what he did was wrong, and he should have to face the possible consequences.

How so? What works for consciencious objectors? As long as it is a non political statement, but one based in facts and answering to higher powers, he has a duty to oppose it, much like Hitler’s army had to.

It’s invalid. If a serviceman follows an unlawful order he is just as guilty (more!) than the one that gave him the order. The only possible defense is not knowing the order was illegal, and I’d bet dollars to donuts they’d say that ignorance of the UCMJ is no excuse.

I kept a CYA file when I was in the Air Force.

I always followed lawful orders ["go to the supply squadron and get office materials"], but would absolutely refuse to follow what were clearly illegal orders ["kill my wife"].

Then, there was the "gray area":

One time, I was working Mid Shift and my commander called me up and told me to go to his office, retrieve classified material from on top of his desk, and put it in the safe at my duty station.

The regs called for me to notify the Security Squadron. I told my commander that I would go to his house and that I wanted a signed statement ordering me to do what he wanted. This was for my CYA file.

He did so, I picked up the statemnt, then I retrieved the classified material and put it in the safe.

Then, I notified the Security Squadron [he had not planned on me doing so]. So, I both followed a lawful order of my commander - and I satisfied the security requirement.

My commander was brought up on charges for violating security and cashiered out of the Air Force [he was a d*ck anyway]. I was not brought up on charges and was personally given a commendation from the Secretary of the Air Force - for having followed a lawful order and preserving security at the same time ...

Obama breaks the chain of command all the time. He has broken Congress, the Courts and what not.

VERY BAD NEWS. This Marine poured out 9 years of his life serving this nation and this is the thanks he gets?! A swift kick in the behind out the door. And because he stated he wouldn’t shoot Americans if Obama ordered it?

For upholding the Constitution he is sworn to defend as a member of the U.S. Armed Forces he is being made an example of not to speak out against potential tyranny. We are in very dangerous waters now folks.

This isn’t your Dad and Grandpa’s Corps anymore.:(

More backwardness!

And you are wrong. Period. You cannot, I repeat CANNOT make comments like that towards any superior or the commander in chief, regardless of how much you like or dislike him. I had Jimmy Carter, but had to keep my mouth shut. He should have known better. Simple as that. Stupid.

"He was also ordered to stop using DoD assets to access social media sites, yet continued to do so."

How come DoD doesn't block access to facebook? My wife's school district does it.

Hmm, how long before the military is required to swear a personal oath of loyalty to dear leader?

Meanwhile a f**ot who stole tens of thousands of military documents and sent them to espionage rings still has not been executed for treason. Meanwhile a muslim who gunned down dozens of men, women, and children stateside on a base still has not been executed for treason.

This Commie Commander in Chief is a farce.

He can say many things that are negative about an elected official, as long as he doesn’t do it in an official capacity.

In an official capacity, he can state that he will not follow unlawful orders. Now that certainly begs the question, but as long as he doesn’t close the loop, he would be fine.

If YOU want to take the chance to open you mouth and say something in public negative like this, then YOU’d better be prepared when your command brings you up on charges! Is THAT worth it? Losing your career over? For a piece of slime like him. See, I am retired, so I can now say all I want. Short of threatening stuff.

I don’t think you can be charged for stating that you will refuse to follow unlawful orders.

And you are wrong. Period. You cannot, I repeat CANNOT make comments like that towards any superior or the commander in chief, regardless of how much you like or dislike him.

From the time I was commissioned until the time I retired, I recall at least three separate instances of telling a higher ranking officer that I was refusing their orders, specifically because they were unlawful. Yes, they could have demanded an Admiral's Mast or even court martial, but that would not have ended well for them.

As I said before, simply making a blanket statement that you will not follow unlawful orders is no different than stating that you won't rob a bank.

Not an issue of “taking a chance”. It is an issue of official vs. unoffical capacity.

I post a lot of anti-Obama stuff on my FB. But my settings are private. I’ve been pushing the envelope lately though. I’ve even emailed the jackass and told him he is a coward and an embarrassment and that he should resign. Haven’t heard a peep out of him yet.
