PHILADELPHIA (AP) — I thought my son would be much older before I had to tell him about the Black Male Code. He's only 12, still sleeping with stuffed animals, still afraid of the dark. But after the Trayvon Martin tragedy, I needed to explain to my child that soon people might be afraid of him.
We were in the car on the way to school when a story about Martin came on the radio. "The guy who killed him should get arrested. The dead guy was unarmed!" my son said after hearing that neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman had claimed self-defense in the shooting in Sanford, Fla.
We listened to the rest of the story, describing how Zimmerman had spotted Martin, who was 17, walking home from the store on a rainy night, the hood of his sweatshirt pulled over his head. When it was over, I turned off the radio and told my son about the rules he needs to follow to avoid becoming another Trayvon Martin — a black male who Zimmerman assumed was "suspicious" and "up to no good."

You’re right on the money. It’s become very clear that the Obama administration and their allies are going “all in” on this Zimmerman situation. Before posting something as “gospel” on FR, I wish that folks would do at least a minimum amount of fact checking. It’s not that difficult.
The Obama “usual suspects” are putting all kinds of bulls**t out on this with virtually NONE of it true. Their thinking (unfortunately somewhat correct) is that the bulk of the public is very GULLIBLE and will just accept the BS as fact. A number of posters here are also posting BS or, at best, their own speculation as if it is FACT. I’m not sure if that’s because they’re just being emotional and getting “carried away” or if they have some sort of agenda they’re trying to advance.
Seems some people think stand your grounds only applies to some. The black kid was not doing anything illegal.

A witness says he had Zimmerman down on the ground and was beating him.
I think it's a pretty good bet that if the police had found them in that position, Martin would be facing charges.
Somebody jumped multiple people ('them')? That's new evidence. And that should read "breaking their noses".

Why did that neighborhood have a neighborhood watch that was so proactive in the first place?

Why would someone feel that they needed a CC permit and actually carry one while patrolling?

For neighborhood watch to go to the extent of calling 911, and then ignoring the recommendation of the operator not to follow says...They have had trouble there in the past!

Standing your ground is not assault. The kid was standing his ground. Address the issue that the author of the law says “his law does not cover zimmerman”.
It isn’t a bad thing. But that isn’t the article he wrote.
Makes for a VERY different article -
If the dad says “don’t act like a ghetto thug” - then if he writes as if how his son is treated is based on his skin color.
Writing “don’t act like a thug - or people may treat you like one” is quite different than assuming “you need special black radar” - F that.

Blacks assaulting whites is no tuncommon - it is so common I can bet someone in your family has been assaulted. Think about it.
Zimmerman was done. He was walking back to his truck. The kid jumped him. That's what the witnesses say. That's what the cops think. And that is why Zimmerman has not been arrested, or charged.
So in your version (Zimmerman)....ran up on him and began the actions that resulted in shooting and a death.
You are 180 degrees out. Zimmerman was going the other way when the kid ran up on him. The kid was 100 feet from his residence. He could have simply gone in. Had he done so he would still be with us. Instead the kid decked Zimmerman, the smaller man, was pounding him into the ground with his fists, and THEN got shot while Zimmerman was screaming for help. The survivor of the encounter says this. The witnesses say this. The 911 call corroborates this.
BTW, the MSM is calling Zimmerman, "A White Hispanic" the first use of that term in English, never mind journalism. Makes about as much sense as calling Obama a "White Negro."
Zimmerman was conducting surveillance on private property; doing a job he was elected by his neighbors to do. Yup. He might be a real jerk. But since neither do we try, nor convict people in the press, we'll just have to wait and see if he goes to trial. Until that point all we know is what you read in the papers and what I read in the police report. Perhaps we should switch?

Stand Your Ground doesn't apply because he did not need relief from any duty to retreat. He was pinned to the ground by his assailant, and could not retreat even if he wanted to. There is an eyewitness to this.
This is why Stand Your Ground doesn't apply.
“Well son, if you start chasing down other people, and get into a fight with them and start smashing their face in while you’re on top of them, you might get shot when the person tries to defend themselves from you.”
LOL, the author said it did not apply to someone following someone else, LOL, whoever was pinning who to the ground, if anyone, is of no importance, that did not start the confrontation.
“Son, if you’re gonna play a cop, identify yourself as a fool playing a cop, otherwise, wearing an earring, you may be perceived as a faggot on a prowl!”
The fact is Trayvor Martin is dead because of a series of avoidable mistakes he made. He didn’t have to go after Zimmerman. He didn’t have to attack Zimmerman and put him in a situation where he thought Martin was going to kill him.
Throwing somebody to the ground and beating them in the face, when that person has done no more to you than following you and has not threatened you would pretty much meet the definition of assault. It would also NOT qualify as "standing your ground".
