Romney: “The Gay Community Needs More Support from the Republican Party’
CNS News Service ^ | March 23, 2012

Posted on 03/24/2012 7:00:38 PM PDT by Zakeet

When Mitt Romney first entered the political scene in 1994, running for the U.S. Senate against Teddy Kennedy, he told an LGBT-focused publication in Massachusetts that he would be a more effective advocate for the interests of the “gay community” than Kennedy had been and that gays should support him because “the gay community needs more support from the Republican Party.”

“Why should the gay community support your campaign when Ted Kennedy has been a strong supporter of civil rights issues and the gay community?” asked a reporter from Bay Windows.

“Well, I think you're partially right in characterizing Ted Kennedy as supportive of the gay community, and I respect the work and the efforts he's made on behalf of the gay community and for civil rights more generally, and I would continue that fight,” Romney said in an interview currently posted on the Bay Windows website.

"I think the gay community needs more support from the Republican Party,” said Romney, “and I would be a voice in the Republican party to foster anti-discrimination efforts.”

Dam you Romney!!!

The gay community needs to stop their blatant Anti-Christian bigotry.
The gay community needs to take responsibility for a lot of the gay pedophiles in their ranks (after all what kind of sex is it that a man has with a boy?)
The gay community, Mr. Romney, needs to stop pressing the lie of born gay.
The gay community needs to stop using false bullying to sneak in all manner of pro-gay propaganda in schools.
The gay community needs to be held accountable for the gay men who have murdered with their bizarre sexcapades all the while holding up Matthew Sheppard as their poster child for their causes!

in other words, Mr. Romney, YOU NEED TO GET A CLUE and HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE as they will NEVER BE YOUR FRIEND! Just like Iran...THEY WILL NEVER BE YOUR FRIEND!!!

“Voting for Romney is like voting to be euthanized.”

Great line. I can't do it again. Have voted for Dole, McCain, and the other losers. Not this time. This joker is a Democrat, in the tradition of Wendell Willkie, who tried to tell the voters he was a better New Dealer than FDR in 1940.

Romney is no Republican. He wasn't even for Reagan. He tried to outlib Kennedy in 1994, and was nearly the only Republican to lose that election night in the midst of a landslide.

As for the Supreme Court, he nominates Democrats to the bench and cozies up to the same psychos that the Dems run with. Ford gave us John Paul Stevens. Nixon gave us Harry Blackmun. Eisenhower gave us Earl Warren and William Brennan. Bush one gave us Souter. Imagine what a marshmallow pretzel like Romney would dream up to plague us all with for forty years.

Romney is worthless. He never mentions restoring our freedoms. He is a super rich dork whose father was too stupid to be elected president after being anointed front runner by the Rockefeller Republicans in 1967-68. Now junior wants to run for the roses. Haven't we all had enough of this dynasty crap?

I haven't posted much this campaign, because the Republicans are doing their Washington Generals act. Obama will win, things will remain bad, and we all must hope for the best.

There is one little silver lining...if Romney did accidentally win the press would rediscover investigative scandal mongering and blame him for the sun coming up each day, like they did with Bush..They would trumpet Romney's twenty percent approval ad infinitum. They would write pointed headlines and stories repeated hundreds of times a day accusing all Republicans of wanting to do the the stuff Obama routinely gets away with now. The Dems would be on the electoral march again, instead of having to use their journolist clown posses to play defense for them. The people would be mad at us again, not shot full of media Novocaine like they are now.

Obama is bad. But Romney is not the cure. He's Bush and Rove on steroids, a Rino’s Rino and a betrayer's betrayer.

For those broken glass Freepers who disagree and will do the deed again, I salute you. Just let's remain at peace on election night.

The GOP keeps running buckets of Jello to throw the thing and then they blame us when they lose. Worst of all they'll run the same game plan in four years.

Four years ago it was that worthless John McCain, who had Sarah Palin standing mute on stage with him as he pretended to care about losing. The Republicans absolutely refuse to nominate someone who supports their own party's agenda and beliefs. I often wonder why they even exist at all.

This will probably be my last election based post this time around. Blessings to you all.

Obama is going to get an easy reelection with Romney as our nominee. I am not even sure a 100 percent real conservative as VP can save this clown.

With Republicans like these, who needs Democrats?

Good post. I think that the R party needs to die. I had hoped for a coup, but the MSM likes the Rinos in charge and has done all it can to promote Mittens.

The chances are good that we are going to see a major economic downturn and social unrest over the next 4 years. It is already baked into the cake. The only hope we have is for a President with the domestic policies of an RP. That won’t happen.

As a result, when the “troubles” come, the SOP of the left would be to blame conservatism if Mittens is President, and they would probably succeed. If Obamalini is President, they might try, but they wouldn’t be believed by anyone who has a real job. Without a general realization that the left is responsible for destroying the economy and our culture, there is no hope of rebuilding.

A question for Mitt Romney:

Exactly what sort of "support" should the Republican Party be giving homosexuals? Maybe Republicans should be required just turn their children over to homosexual groups in order to remain in good standing with the party? Would that be enough support for them? Or perhaps Republicans should enact a party platform making participation in "gay" sex a requirement for receiving health care, or government services?

Really Mitt Romney, that's how stupid you're past remarks are sounding.

If Mitt Romney manages to get himself elected President I pity the poor bastard who gets stuck with the job of Press Secretary.

I really can’t fathom why the Republican Party is so intent on committing political suicide in an election that should have resulted in an easy victory.

I’m really starting to get the feeling that this will be the first election where I end up just writing somebody in on my ballot and calling it a day.

The Republican Party needs to stop pandering to people who consider themselves “communities”.

Romney is such a dork.

Mitt can’t win. I think he is shooting himself in the foot so he won’t be able to beat Obama but he still thinks he has the nomination in the bag.

The GOP-e does not want to be a party in power.

Given the downward trajectory of the US economy and the nightmarish fiscal situation that the Federal government has created for itself I can’t really say that I blame them.

Frankly, if I were one of the GOP party elders I’d have serious doubts as to whether I wanted to have the blame for whatever is coming in the next four years falling at their feet.

I just can’t do it again for the Republicans if Romney is the nominee. If that’s the case, I literally want a divorce from the GOP. I know third parties lose, but I don’t know how many more “wins” we can survive with the likes of candidates like McCain and Romney. Even if we “win,” we lose.

Voted Reagan twice.
Voted Bush the Elder twice.
Voted Dole.
Voted W twice.
Voted Palin (yeah, yeah...) once.

Romney is a bridge too far for me.

Let's see now.

Gas is $4/gal and Obama's EPA won't allow drilling and is working hard to prevent exploitation of Natural Gas
There's no work, because the there are 3 million fewer jobs in the economy than there were in 2008
The Iranians are building an A-Bomb
Obama Care is due to hit in 18 months
Inflation is hitting food prices.

The good news is that Romney has actually made a statement on an issue. The Bad News? The issue is the queer vote.

At the risk of stating the obvious, I believe that most of the few openly queer Republicans may stay Republican for you, Governor. IMHO, most of the other queers will stay Democrat, no matter what you say. So, STFU.
